    writing buddy or mentor

    Hi all,

I just stumbled upon this forum and am interested to see the creative juices that flow around here. I am especially interested in the collaboration that goes on here.

Right now, I am at the point in my writing where I feel I could give feedback on writing and could use feedback on my own. I have spent time developing my writing in HS and traveled to Iowa and Harvard writing workshops during this time. In college and grad school, I put my creative writing aside to focus on a medical research interest/career. So I'm not exactly a novice to writing, but still need to work on things in my growth as a writer.

And that brings me to now where I have time to return to my fiction. I have written several short stories and am hoping to size up where I'm at by submitting to competitions. It would be great to get an experienced/published writer to have a look at a story or two. At the very least, it would be great to have someone be a second set of eyes for my work.

Some things that I am especially working on include pace/rhythm and interweaving different times/perspectives into a story.

I am happy to offer constructive criticism or other writing support in return.

if you're interested, drop me a line.

Hey there, welcome to the forum.

I think you've found the right place.
I have acquired a few mentors, or writer-buddies, as I call them, just from being a member of this site.
Though I think the best way to achieve this is to put your work in the Writer's Workshop, one story at a time. Get some feedback. See what feedback you respond to best, maybe go read that person's work, see if you think you'd be a fit.

All my writer buddies like my writing and I like theirs. I don't think it would work otherwise.

Hope you find what you're looking for here.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. do you have any room for a buddy or mentor?

I don't know if any of you felt nervous about posting your things on the web. For me, it feels a bit strange. And I don't know if there are any merited concerns.

If I'm silly worrying about this, I'd be excited to get feedback on some of my work.
