Hi Guys
If I wanted 5 groups of wizards, four that can weild certain parts of magic and a rare wizard who can do them all, what would be a good name for the groups.
I was going with Alpha Beta etc. but doesnt sound right?

Phooey. I was expecting a question about medieval guilds in London, such as broderers and tallow chandlers and apothecaries. I wouldn't have known the answer, but it would have made a change from questions about wizards.![]()
How about for the sorts of magic they do, like trade guilds, say earth, water, fire and air plus a group that deals with the non-material.
Wield by the way.

How about looking up words that would relate to what you're looking for? Use the Thesaurus. For the groups that can wield certain parts of magic, look up "part", "incomplete", "lacking" etc. And for the group that wields all parts of magic, look up "whole", "all", "complete" etc.
As an example, the four groups could be called the "Regions" and the fifth group the "Entire".
Hope that helps.
Sean
Can you tell us what those types of magic are? Light, Dark, Black, White, Charms, Projectiles, what are we trying to name exactly? That would make it a bit easier, to name a guild based on its particular practice, I think
If you're talking simply Earth, Air, Fire and Water, then that's quite easy I'd say. Maybe there is a bad wizard guild, called the Brotherhood of Ember, or the Guild of Ember, something like that. I'd rather not help you too much, if you know what I mean.
Maybe they could be named after stones. Diamond guild, Obsidian guild, Amber guild, Coral guild etc. You're a writer, go mental!

"When I am gone, it won't be long before I disturb you in the dark."
Call the rare fifth wizard God. Call the others his angels.
More seriously, you have to use your own imagination on this. Only you know the nature of your story and what would suit these groups best.
Perhaps the trees in your world own a certain power and you could call a group 'The Order of the Oak'. Perhaps you could define a group by their human weakness linked to sin and call it 'The Order of Lust'. etc.
Only you can come up with the answers. Probably.
I'd agree with you that Alpha, Beta sounds lame.

Hi Guys
It is the normal Fire, Water, Air and Earth Magic and the class the protagonist and antagonist are in is the overarching one that can do all of the different sides. I was going to do guilds to seperate them all. But I now think I may just have them all in the same place and use the Order route. I still need titles for the different sides, I will try and come up with a couple for opionions. I need to get some sorted as I am doing the Nanowrimo and I need to know this to starte the book
Cheers for looking

Why not something in line with... Sons of Hodir or Traitor of Kirin-tor or anything that sounds "magiacally." I know the 2 i mentioned means something to you since I noticed your avatar and it's most likely from the game which I took those words from. LOL.
Or why not something incomprehensible like... "Ilik Etoe Atme At" Sounds mystique right? yeah, it's "I Like to Eat Meat" just edited the spacing lolol. Or for the lulz, why not call them Qwerty
