POV of MacGuffin, or narrating MacGuffin

In the story I am working on, I have a MacGuffin, well several really. One is aquired by my MC, and develops an affinity to it. Has there been anything written where the story, or part of the story is written with the MacGuffin as the narrator? Looking for a bit of inspiration.

How can an object be a narrator, unless it's like a talking banana or something? I'm not really clear what you mean.

I have no idea how you might do that, but thanks for bringing it up. I learned something new today.

It's like.. a story of Excalibur told by the sword itself, or if the One Ring were telling its own story. Basically my MacGuffin has the potential to be sentient or intelligent and I don't know if I can or should use it's point of view to tell a part of my story, or even just a short story to unblock my writer's block.

From what I understood, it can't effect the story, so while the sword would work, the one ring would not, I'd think. Am I getting it? Maybe that is being too literal, and I am. I think trying a short story or maybe devote one chapter to the idea, and if you like it, add more chapters. If you don't, one chapter is not so much to toss.

Why have you contradicted yourself? A talking banana seems perfectly clear.

A narrator doesn't need to be a part of the story, but I don't see why something like the One Ring couldn't narrate a portion of it. I may have a go myself, I was hoping to find something someone else had done in a similar vein... so far my google-fu has yielded uninteresting results.
