    I can't believe I did something so dumb. :(

I started a new one last night. I loved the way it read. So much emotion in it. I forgot to save it last night and deleted it. Four pages, gone.

If you are running Windows and all you did was delete it and not erase it, it's still there. It's just not listed in the index. There is recovery software that can restore anything that has been deleted, so long as it has not been overwritten.

I forgot to mention that if you use the recycle bin, then you can go there and find it. I don't use the recycle bin. When I delete something the recycle bin is bypassed and I have to use recovery software to get it back. About once a week I erase everything that's been deleted.

I'm happy you found your pages. That's good.

Jesus saves, and so do I.

I hit "CNTRL + S" so often, it's become a reflex -- and I don't even realize I'm doing it. If my machine freezes etc., sometimes I'm sure that I've lost work. I'm often surprised to see I haven't lost a thing.

There's also an option in Word called "auto recovery". If you turn it on, Word automatically saves your file every five minutes. The saves can be found in the system directory (usually the C drive).

Sam - That's good to know. I never use Word for writing, only for formatting, but knowing that if I'm involved in something lengthy I have some insurance in case of a BEL hiccup. Thanks.

OpenOffice and other processors also auto-save. And I'd bet that a lot of writers hit save very frequently.

I also have a battery backup because the power here is so unreliable. What a difference since I put that in!

I use google docs which auto saves literally every time I make a change. The only annoying thing about my computer is somehow I nick the touch-pad and magically select two paragraphs of text and the next letter I type overwrites it. You'd be surprised how often this happens, but luckily the "undo" function brings it all right back in most cases. The few cases it doesn't usually finds me pulling my hair in rage, lol.
Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.

Sam, that time can be brought down to one minute.
