    Children's Writer Seeking Advice

Hi! I am the author of a financial childrens' book that has been published in the U.S. I currently have been offered the option to collaborate with another country to have our book translated. Has anyone done this before? Looking for some advice on copyright pricing, conditions, etc. Thank you!

    Are you self-published?

They look like an expensive way of getting what can be got free with Lulu or a similar POD company.

I have been very happy with my publishing company but will check the options you've suggested! Right now, however, I am trying to understand offers from other countries. Thoughts?

Your publisher should be able to provide any information you need. For any feedback from the members of this site you really need to be a little more specific. For instance, to answer questions about pricing it's helpful to know what country you're talking about.

A representative from a publishing company in Lithuania has shown interest in publishing our book in their language. I would never want to lose the copyright here in the U.S. and not sure about a fee for copyright in their country and royalties. They have since requested a copy of our book, will review it and make an offer to me. So, I think I will go from there!

If Lithuania has accepted the Berne treaty then you're covered for copyright. You may find this a useful site to browse for information. WIPO - World Intellectual Property Organization

Preditors and Editors lists the company you're using for publishing your book as "not recommended". I would advise that you take this into account before getting in too far with this particular company. It also notes that the company takes 100% of your profit.

Click on the "Preditors and Editors" at the start of my post to access their website.
