i loves The Six Million Dollar Man .....

It was one of my favorite tv shows growing up.Throughout the last few years i had, at various times, wanted to write a Bionic hero. Then the remake of the Bionic Woman came out. I am sure not many liked the show and it was cancelled after an extremely brief run but i enjoyed the concept of how she was created and especially the fact that she was not the first. There was an original created and she had basically run amok because of what the Bionic systems did to her.

I still want to write a Bionic hero. A good friend of mine always says, "Just write the damn thing and don't worry about what everyone says." So, i think i am going to do that.

My idea for the origin is to have a Navy Seal who had infiltrated a submarine get caught. The "bad guy" has the SEAL launched from a torpedo tube into the cold, frigid seas. He does not die and floats around for a while and is found and brought aboard a boat and delivered to a secret facility where he is fitted with Bionics. As repayment for a life saved, the SEAL has to agree to a term of service with some kind of a watchdog agency or group.

That is the idea as it stands now. I need to decide what kind of group he works for that way i can decide on types of threats and missions. But the hero is a SEAL for sure. I think i may want to add the ALPHA Bionic male at some point also.

Do i include the shot out of the torpedo tube as like the first chapter to show the origin? I think it would need be in there as it happens instead of appearing as a flashback or something.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated .....

Aw man, I loved that show......I'm smiling at the advice of your friend...lol...good advice. Let me see if I got this right....a Navy Seal is captured by an enemy submarine....tortured(make sure this happens), then shot out of torpedo tube(can a human do this and live?)...he does not die but survives in the frigid water(I would make it warmer water and bring in the sharks for sure)..he is rescued(by a local fisherman and brought to an island nearby)...this is where he discovers the secret agency. Perhaps the Alpha male could turn out to be the President of the US?

Yes, I would start with the torture scene...sounds good to me...good luck, kid!

A new twist on this has come to mind. The tech for Bionics in today's world might not set a hero apart from others. So i thought what if i placed it during a time when the tech didn't exist. I would, of course, be going totally fantasy and sci-fi along the lines of Captain America.

ww2 would be the setting. The torture scene would remain and the character would be fitted with these mechanical limbs(bionics) and made to work for the OSS. I was thinking of having the tech as something stolen from the future and brought back as a means of creating a super weapon that would turn the tide of the war.

The character is fitted with these things and made a one-man army in employ of the OSS. His missions might include wiping out strategic targets of the time such as Hitler and others. But how about a twist? How about an alternate timeline says that if Hitler or any such target is killed before the Reich fails then the goal of the Reich would actually be accomplished. The party taking over for Hitler actually would succeed.

Now there is a dilemma. The MC is supposed to be eliminating targets but doing so would change the course of history. Throw in a Nazi weapon fitted with the same equipment who is also out to kill the targets as a way of helping the Nazis succeed then i can have a role reversal and a weird twist.
