Thread: Character Idea .....

Just came up with a new character idea and wanted to see the opinions here .....

The character is going to be a small time criminal, maybe with some Military training, probably because he came home from a stint overseas and couldn't find work anywhere. He takes to small time stuff and during a home break-in, where he thought no one was home, and he was trying to steal some stuff he gets into a fight that results in a death.

Well, the guy expects the cops to come and to arrest him, but that doesn't happen. Instead a representative of the family comes and takes the character to the boss of the family (i am thinking Asian here) and nthe head of the family makes the character a proposition: he has evidence that proves the character's guilt but will not turn it over in exchange for a term of service from the main character. The character takes on a number of jobs to atone for what he has done.

It's all in how you write him, Kurrgan, though I wouldn't use the word "atone". He's not getting forgiveness, he's getting slavery and he ought to really think things out becasue criminal masterminds keep blackmail. You never escape the evidence and your man should know that. Not only would this family have the dirt on him for teh murder, they would have it on him for every job he did for them. Gets nasty quick.

But of course he has discovered something about them. as well. Perhaps heard something or something the fight was over. And is hunting for that lever as he works out his servitude. And the more they suspect he has or is closing in on their dirty little secret, the more they are torn between using him and the need to eliminate him.




I always saw it more like life-bullshit=art, actually.

This is starting to read like a group story,
But then he falls in love with the daughter, who is used to carry messages to him against her will, and she warns him ...
