Please don't be intimidated. Again, a brief character sketch is all that is required. The more detail you put into it the more you risk other authors forgetting. My profile is probably too long but I got tired of cutting stuff out of it.
Just Name, Age, Description, and Background. Background doesn't have to be a novel, just hit some high points that have made your character what they are today.

Looks nice. If the 'incident' involved something that would leave a record I'd like you to PM it to me as part of the background check info.

By Popular Demand...the letters of 10 players
Okay, here are the letters of the 10 players in no particular order. I've changed my mind and think that new intros will be more effective than the letters so I'll put them in this thread.
From Cefor:
To: employment@velgaenterprises.com
From: garyhill@btinternet.co.uk
Subject: Island Breezes! I'm your man.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I saw your ad in my local paper and I instantly knew it was the job for me. I have had experience in the great outdoors, as I was an instructor at a Teen's Outdoor survival group in the Lakes.
Unfortunately the group was shutdown because it lacked funds, and nowhere new has started up. So as you may tell I would greatly enjoy working on your island. I can obviously bring in my knowledge of many crafts; kayaking, rock climbing, archery, an extensive knowledge of knots, and orienteering to name but a few.
I love the outdoors and the best thing about it is the adventure, especially when with the kids. They make everything into their own fantasy, it's so great joining in and having my childhood adventures relived.
I think that this job is exactly what I am looking for in life at the moment. I would be very pleased if you chose me, and as I know spaces are limited I ask that you do consider my knowledge.
Yours faithfully,
Gary Hill, survival instructor.

Howdy,
I'm lookin' for that job I saw somethin' 'bout in the paper. Let me tell ya that I'm the man you're lookin' for. I've been handlin' cows for twenty years and cattle for almost as long (if ya know what I'm saying. Hehe).
I'm a man's man and a real ol'fashioned cowboy. There's nuttin at some goddamn island I can't handle and if somethin' try I'll make sure they're 'bout it.
As long as I get mah six-shooters and a bottle o' scotch ya could dump me in a jungle and I'll live to tell about it. Some bloody housekeepin' is no problem, I'll tell ya that.
If ya wondrin' why such a Man is lookin' for a job like this it's 'cause the prairie is shrinkin' and I ain't got no place to go. Let me tell ya this, hire me an ya won't regret a darn thing.
Bruce Adventure Thompson (Ya get it? Adventure is my middle name. Heh.)

Subject: Employment want
Recently I was glancing through www.monster.ie for a job that would be a change from my current set up, and to my surprize your ad seemed to hit me in the eye. I have lots of experience in house care and some in preparing food and in comuinication skills, as I am currently a Nurse in a nursing home, which houses 23 patients.
I regret to say that the reason I need a change is several of the patients I tended to were quite close, the last orignal patient of the nursing home just passed away and it seemed to get to me more then I would have allowed it.
Your ad promises to allow us to Travel to waterfront resort location. Currently I am staying in a rented flat near the centre of London, so to get away and experience some of the outdoors and still aquire a wage is quite attractive. I hope to hear from you soon, if you wish to aquire any moreinformation please ask.
Yours Faithfully

Re: Island Breezes job opportunities
To whom it may concern:
I am writing about your ad for employment opportunities at a remote waterfront resort location. The ad says you are looking for someone for housekeeping duties and some outdoor work.
I am not sure what you are looking for exactly, but I am sure that I can fill a need. In high school I worked summers as a cabana boy at the 12 Palms resort in southern California. I worked my way through college by running my own pool maintenance and cleaning business, and I can take care of your resort’s pools and beach equipment. I graduated from Malibu College with a degree in geography. After college I worked for the peace corps for a year in northern Thailand building schools and teaching children. I loved the jungle and trekked in my time off. It was quite an adventure!
Although my grades at college were pretty good (g.p.a. 3.2) I’ve learned that office work doesn’t suit me. It just gets too boring. I prefer outdoor work, but can do indoor work also. For the past couple years, I did laundry in a large institution. Not my favorite kind of work, but I am very proficient at it. I am a hard worker and willing to do anything. I learn quickly. I just became free of a confining personal situation and have no ties, so working for you sounds great.
If you would like more information about me, let me know. I am available any time.
Sincerely,
Chad Anderson
From Seigfried007:
Dear Velga Enterprises:
I noticed your classified ad for employees and am pleased to inquire for a position in meal preparation, meal arrangement and planning, table preparation, decorating, placesetting, dishwashing, floral arrangements, plant-tending, laundry, dry cleaning, ironing, sewing, mopping, sweeping, sponging, scrubbing, floor waxing, and other forms of 'domestic' work.
My former employers taught me that a good servant's ministrations were neither seen nor heard because the house should appear to magically produce all sustenance and maintain cleanliness. I would like to think that I embody this ideal.
I am willing to work for room and board and/or for free on a trial basis. Should you decide that you do not wish for my services after such a trial period as you choose, I will humbly accept this and find employment elsewhere without consulting an attorneyso you have no fear of me filing a lawsuit for due backpay.
Thank-you for reading this letter.
Wishing you a pleasant evening,
Adam

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am responding to the ad in the newspaper entitled Island Breeze. My name is Conrad O'brien and I have been working as a janitor in a high school in the Bronx for five years. I am looking for a position where I can get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. I know the ins and outs of keeping a building in tip top shape, since the building I have to manage is almost 100 years old, so things are always going wrong with it.
My knowledge isn't limited to just keeping things clean and in working order. I have some computer skills and could do small office type work, but I prefer to be behind the scenes, making things look beautiful for the public.
I was saddened last year when my wife of twenty years passed away last year of lung cancer. I have no other family, so when I move out to the island, I will dedicate myself to my job. You do not have to worry about having family emergencies or ditching my responsibilities due to family problems. I will do my job with the best of my ability and will not stop until the job I am assigned is completed. I strive to make sure that the job is done to the highest level and not halfway done.
I hope you will consider me for the position in question and I assure you, I will be the most loyal person you will ever hire.
Thank you and I look forward to meeting with you.
Conrad O'Brien

MWilliams@SAHM.com
Dear Sir/Madam,
I believe I would be an excellent addition to your staff. I have 11 years of experience in the service industry. In these past 11 years I have perfected skills in cooking, cleaning, organizing, managing, scheduling, laundering, transporting, behavior management, crisis management, and I am currently First Aid Certified and CPR Certified for Infants. I am adept and comfortable with making split minute decisions. As most applicants profess, I have excellent people skills and enjoy taking care of others and meeting their needs. Although I lack skills pertaining to the outside work mentioned in your ad, I am intelligent and willing to learn new skills.
Regrettably, I find myself a displaced worker in the homemaker industry. I have no ties to home, family, or friends. Relocation would be most advantageous for me and I am prepared to relocate immediately.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours Faithfully,
Ms. Marissa Williams

From Suzip:
Dear Sirs
I saw your advertisement recently and wish to apply for a position. I am nineteen and have just left college as it didn’t feel it was the right place for me. I left of my own choosing due to personal reasons I don’t really want to get into. I’m afraid I don’t have a lot of experience working in a household as my experience is generally serving behind the bar at a local pub and part time in a supermarket, both of which I could easily get references for you. However, I learn quickly and am a hard worker. I am happy to carry out any job you ask of me.
I would very much like to travel from where I live which is in the city. I tend to stay in on the evenings so the opportunity to work in a remote location as the advertisement describes would be ideal for me.
I don’t know the kind of positions you are offering but I am open to anything at this point as I really want to travel to somewhere new.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Subject: Island Breezes Application
Dear Sir/ Madam
I am writing this letter to reply to the advertisement displayed on a website I was viewing. I'm extremely interested in this job and in this letter I hope I will show you my usefulness to you in the job you want to give.
I'm a 19 year old who's just finished their gap year. Unfortunately I have finished school with only 2 GCSEs and no A levels (I got an A in PE and an A* in art). I have been unable to get into a university for a qualified job, this is why I'm applying for your job. As you have seen in the above I have got good grades in PE and Art which shows I'm good with my hands and I'm fit and healthy. I will be able to do the tough jobs which maybe hard, I have no bones about these.
I would like this job because I think it's perfect for me. I don't care about the hard work that I'd be doing. I love to be by the sea and I'm easy going. Any extra work and I'm happy to pick up the pace. My grandma was a cleaner and my granddad was a gardener so I know how to do this sort of thing as they often took me to work with them when they were caring for me. I have no emotional attachments that would hold me back and no prospects at the moment which is why I'm applying for this job.
Please employ me! I think I'd be a good member of your team who'd do all the jobs that no one else will do and without any fuss. As I say I'm very fit and active and will be able to work for you for a long time.
Yours faithfully
Maria Smith
