Between Evil RP Info

Hello, first thing first. This is a first of a series of role play stories; the story in this question serves as a prologue to greater events and a more complicated RP that will take place after this. The second is that this story will be a dark telling with an emphasis on horror. I am hoping that if the turnout for this is good then it’ll encourage me to create the other three planned RP’s. I hope that those who consider participating will put in their best style of writing. Other then background information and character application, this thread can be used to raised other questions or make some pointers about the writing or of the plot, be it compliment or critique. If you have any questions about the RP and the series and wish offer an idea or introduce your own element then PM and i'll consider it.

And finally, there are two types of characters used (Past and Present, more information further below) where only two past characters make it to the present and only one of your three characters for present will survive the ending of this dark tale.

The Island of Dregda

Between the continents, and between a great empire, lays Dregda. A land that is surrounded by sea and far from Zarnith and Damarius that dwarf the small Island, but it is large enough. Enough to hold several kingdoms and hundreds of thousands of its people.
Two hundred years have passed since they have left.

Well that is how the story goes, no one is sure how long ago they had gone for but a round whole number adds to a good story, the history of Dregda is anything but a history read by the ignorant. The ones who ruled before never showed themselves had other man like creatures do their bidding, they held no regard for man's heritage and when they left all that was known and valued was gone forever.

The importance of identity matters greatly, which was why as soon as the masters of old left, they were replaced by men wanting to be rulers. Despite the wars and conflict, our numbers prospered though some claim they see dark marks across the ocean's horizon. Vessels they say that grow to sizes that are beyond our best construction means. The old ones? Who knows but their rule is not wanted if it is them who is watching. If they are watching then they should be seeing us from a distance for our magic is strong. Magic a power that summons the spiritual nature of life grows channels through our finest sorcerers, we have many and their power is vast!

Unfortunately all is not well, two kingdoms, Sabdu and Krieu; the conqueror of the third of that was Angievus are in serious conflict with a strange monster, something that had somehow appeared all of a sudden. Is it a problem, it cannot be surely but suddenly both kings have drawn out their strongest forces and conscripts, are our mages not strong enough? What of them? No answer but both peasant and warrior does as he is told. The fields of Buddera lie beyond the three key cities of Sabdu, Kessen, Dren and Teyochi. Teyochi is the great harbour city. The so called Ska'rem, as reports call them make their advance. Krieu is struggling and Sabdu is sending its forces through Buddera, it is a field of green, hills and valleys, and a literal one way route to the other kingdom and stretches for hundreds of miles. Something is occurring at the heart of Buddera, right on the border of Krieru. It is a long march, even by beast and there are many checkpoints for advancing companies. One is Sadurn, a compound comprising of Stables, blacksmiths, beds for soldiers, officers, wives or any female warrior drink, magic, dealings by money or by sword and women (if the price was met) as like any city, checkpoints for men eventually design their own laws but one thing awaits the men and women who hold the key to the turning point of Dregda, a lesson hidden within a story that had surrendered its meaning to glory. A story that goes far as back to when was around Angievus, before its fall

The key cities:

There is no intention in doing numerous cities as events will be repeated and not all are linked to the other, there are more than just Kessen, Dren and Teyochi. However the three cities are the major and closest together. There are smaller towns and villages, which are open to self invention by the writer but the three cities, are interlinked, in industry and military. Buoien is a captain of a Battalion, each city hosts three Battalions which equates to a regiment (brigade) Traditionally, Kessen and Dren send their regiments and Teyochi keeps theirs to guard the 'Tey-res-sen' region nicknamed as it is governed by these three powerful cities. Any further and it is the Buddera fields, north and south are various cities, further to the east (where our characters in present have planned to travel) is where the conflict is taking place just off Krieu. Teyochi can afford to be spread its forces to cover the remaining cities and its own as its population is double to that of both Dren and Kessen. So while a Battalion may have 800 troops, Teyochi has 1600 per Battalion. However it does send some to accompany the two regiments of Kessen and Dren.

Both three cities are quite industrialized; trade goes to Teyochi usually as it is the main city with a harbour that can send supplies where it chooses. Teyochi is more of a base given its large percentage of troops and garrisons and harbour for merchant and navy, even if it is the biggest of the three and relies on the other two cities for supplies of food and workers. If any city has a connection to the past and is most vital for our characters it is Teyochi, there is a privateer who claims he can ships to a 'new land' but does not reveal his methods of how his vessels can travel the distance (if it can) he plays a role in the past.

I hope this is information enough. I may include one more character during the rp though while another warrior is typical entry, if a character with engineering skills or of another high ranking character whose skills lie in leadership or other non combative role would be appreciated.

As for magic, for the time being this is all that needs to be known, that it is the manipulation of conflict, (be creative) using forces that are of not natural elements that are generally passive or rare (wind, water and lighting) however earth is subject to manipulation of conflict already and destruction as its always has been there and earth was made to endure. Fire is subject to manipulation as depending on the weapons of war, can occur to make it exposed to such arts. It should be noted that the greatest of mages specialise in Telekinesis. However there is rumoured to be people vanishing of late and of considerable number, and is up to you to decide if this fact in some way is relevant.

This short rp is divided into two; part of it will focus on the present, the other on the past as told by one of my characters. There are three overall to pick

Character layout:

Past/present.
Name:
Country: Angievus (for past character) Sabdu is for present character.
City: (city is excluded from past character)
Gender:
Age:
Physique and facial appearance:
Class: knight/archer/mage/civilian (pick specific occupation) for past characters only warrior classes allowed.
History:

---
Please note: You’re allowed up to three past characters and three present characters. Only TWO past characters will survive and only one of three of your present characters will survive by the end of this. So choose carefully. The ending serves prelude to the bigger rp and not as a promotion to your character though a descendent or if your character is immortal somehow (by say magic) then he/she will appear in the next rp. The era of both past and present is of a typical medieval civilisation that is up a notch by the impact of magic so be creative with weaponry as the enhancement of magic would open the doors to a whole new dimension for weapons

My characters:

Past
Name: King Darulin
Country: Angievus
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Physique, appearance and facial appearance: A rough looking golden beard, dark blue eyes with a dry hard skin (due to numerous campaigns in the extreme weather) A crimsoned line layout around his plated armour, with a grey coating. Off the battle he wears a simpler clothing, stitched shirt and trousers with a rugged cape. He has a powerful build that is more on strength then any other.
Class: Before becoming king had a extensive career as a knight.
History: Darulin is a harsh ruler but reasons it out of necessity; he ruled Angievus when Krieu had decided to expand its territory and felt Angievus was in the way. Rather then listen to the offers of 'compromise' he establishes his forces and marches them to a rocky valley called Kreata, surrounded by valleys, long deserts and loose cliffs make it hazardous. Darulin pushes his forces to the region and plans to use the environment to defeat the vastly superior forces of Krieu. Knowing a key victory would encourage the other nation Sabdu to participate. History recalls it as a heroic last stand but the truth is somewhat different...

Past:
Name: Kerlon
Country: Angievus
Gender: Male
Age: 45
Physique, appearance and facial appearance: decorated in a purple robe with oversized sleeves and a heavy hood. The front of the robe is inscribed with golden numerals, spelling as a symbol as his years in serving King and cause. His body is slim but healthy, dark eyes and long briwn hair to the shoulders. His skin is more bronze like and shows a calm persona.
Class: Mage.
History: He is the Lord of magic in Angievus, those below are titled servants of the lord and those ranked below them are simply magicians. Kerlon, is also the king's advisor, and mentor. He is the one who balances the rule of Darulin to that of a king then that of a tyrant. His magic focuses on the recreation of destruction and manipulation of nature.

Present
Name: Zanix
Country: Sabdu
Gender: Male
Age: 68
City: Teyochi
Physical, facial and appearance: His face shows grey streaks of hair that is malting but a clean face. His figure is heavy but lacking built, any training he forsaked long ago but has a sword with him to warn off anyone. A thick leathery cape covers him, as if to hide from shame of what he had lost.
Class: Formerly a warrior.
History: He comes to the small garrison compound called Sadurn, some thinking to see the numbers of men resting before departing again to the heart of the Buddera where Krieu rests and where the 'great battle' awaits the young and the experienced. Though he is not here to see men marching off, ne has seen too much of it and is prepared to give a story of conflict but with a horrible twist, so horrible that it may turn out to be true...

Present:
Name: Buoien
Country: Sabdu
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Physique, facial and appearance: He is peak physical health but his battle readiness has yet to be tested. He wears a light combination of chain and brown leather clothing due to the length of the ride to Sadurn. When the helmet is taken off, his freckled skin and reddish hair is seen more clearly. He is small, below six foot but is still enough to impose leader like quality.
City: Kessen
Class: Knight Captain.
History: Most of his men comprised of different class of warriors, travel in his Battalion, he is somewhat out of touch, eager to achieve things without considering the physical limit of others. He is a prideful person, favoured by nobility and charm and is keen to enforce the believe of glory in tales into his men, even if they are getting tired of it. They have spent more time performing ceremonial and 'public' display then any real training. He is not afraid of combat but inexperienced, not knowing how to maintain the discipline of Adeline when an situation escalates.
