Break into writing game scripts
A young game development studio is looking for writers to write the script for the game. This is a great opportunity for anyone trying to break into the writing side of the game industry.
The writer will be responsible for writing the comic dialog. As of right now this is an intern position, so don't expect any payment any time soon. More information will be provided to the candidates that will be found fit.
All interested writers please send your resume and a short example of your writing to kkaploon@gmail.com
Thanks to everyone,
kost.

I just didn't see it fit in the format of that post. I have been in the doing development since early age, so my relatively young age, doesn't mean this isn't a series undertaking. I am also a senior member of a full, commercial, game development studio that is working on a new title - Dawn of Fantasy (dot com).
I state again - it is an indie studio, so ALL of us work for free, this is an accepted format of work in the game industry. So don't be frightened by the intern position, if you want to try a career in this industry, this is a good place to start.

What genre is the story? Potential candidates might find that information helpful in deciding whether or not to contact you.

I used to do game/level design in this kind of thing, modding Quake and Half-Life. It's actually pretty fun.

The game is set in the future in space, but this position is required for the dialog part only, so any (preferebly comical) genre writers are welcome.

It's a bit differrent, this game is done from scratch, with it's own engine and original art and audio. But yes, this is a fun little (reletivly) project.

You built your own engine? 3D? Jesus...
That's impressive. A lot of studios don't even do that any more.

2D gaming is a lost art.
I might have time to add to my resume.
Exactly what style of writing are you looking for? Darkish, satire, juvenile?

I used to make mods for video games too - it's totally fun, but I gave it up a few years ago to start writing novels.
Here's my old website if you want to see some cool screenshots:
CaptainFreedom's Bootcamp
I also made the infamous map "Toybox Bloodbath" for Call of Duty. Who would've thought a stupid map would get me so much hate mail...oops.
I can imagine that it would be pretty hard to write the script for a computer game without knowing what the capabilities of the engine are, or having some idea of what resources are available.
For example, if you write a story about space monsters, and the game just has models, props, and textures for cowboys and indians, you're going to run into some trouble when you try to make the thing.

Good to see other dev' bods here I was in gaming about 15 years ago, primarily for PC and Amiga games. My ambition is to have my ashes spread over Ocean's Gary Bracey when I die....

There are many more free modders out there working on games than paid industry people. It's like a hobby.
I think he just phrased the sentence wrong. In the INDUSTRY they get paid. The hobbyists/enthusiasts/people trying to break into the market work free for enjoyment or hope of future profits.
