Idea database? Help!
I'm looking for a type of idea database where you can enter thoughts and store them in a searchable format for later recall. It would use tags like a blog so you could call up all your ideas/thoughts on a certain subject. Does anyone know of anything like this?
I would use it to organize all the stuff that I think of all day and write down. I would rather have it on my PC than in a huge pile of random paper.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you ever heard of Microsoft Office Binder? It sort of does what you mention.
Basically you open a "binder" on your PC and can eaither create new documents within it or add previously created document. It will display all your documents on the left hand side of the window in alphibetical order by title (Defult settings). YOu can store a wide range of documents from spreadsheets to simple word processors.

I don't have Microsoft Office, and I'm not keen on paying for it, but I appreciate your suggestion, Lordofhats. =) I'm going to check out Google's free office suite though, to see if they have a similar app.
Anyone. else have ideas?

If you use a Mac, Scrivener is a godsend. The software itself is paid, but if you look around, there are still some free beta versions lying around - I'm running a free version of Scrivener Gold.
Another possibility, or if you don't have a Mac, is to just start a blog for your ideas. Run it off of Blogspot or similar software where you can have multiple blogs, then if you choose, keep it as private. Document each idea in a seperate post and use the applicable tags.

I believe Open Office...a free suite of programs has a data base. Free and cross-platform.
But you know you can search "Windows Explorer", right? Create a directory and put all your stuff in there, then use the search function to search for file name keywords and words ocurring anywhere in the files.

I messed around with that last night actually. I might get with a database friend of mine to see what we can come up with. Until then, I think I will use the Windows search.
I appreciate the help!

I hope somebody posts a software suggestion for an idea database. I've been looking for a good cross referencing database for year and haven't found anything. Everything seems to be oriented towards building and writing a story, but I just want to organize my hundreds of idea snippets.
