Looking for a writer...

I am looking to find a writer for a project. The project (or challenge) is to take the musings and photos from a trip I took this summer and turn them into an entertaining e-book.

This past summer, I kayaked from Kittery, Maine to Machias, Maine; covering almost 500 miles. Each day I took photos and wrote an online log detailing the adventure.

The purpose of the trip was to raise money for the National Brain Tumor Foundation. I learned it is much easier to paddle day after day than it is to raise money. Although I'm well short of my goal, I think there is still potential to raise more money if the adventure can be turned into a entertaining story.

The book could be written as either fiction or non-fiction. I was thinking of an online format, but I'm open to suggestions. I will provide the web site. The purpose of this project is to raise money and awareness for the National Brain Tumor Foundation, so please realize that I am looking for an unpaid volunteer! To date, I've raised 13% toward my goal of $10,000 for brain cancer patient services.

So far I have written about 14,000 words. I am about 1/2 way done adding more details to my field notes. The word count in the ebook is not as important to me as the fund raising is! The writer would have complete latitude in creativity except: The entire work must be G rated because there are already a lot of youngsters following the story. There are over 250 pictures posted on the website that can be used.

I think the ebook could be published in monthly installments. An ebook is perhaps only one of the media options available, so if anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I was thinking of making the first part free, as a teaser, and then asking for donations for the remaining parts.

You will, in effect, be making a big contribution in terms of your time. For that reason, I suggest you look into the charity ratings for the National Brain Tumor Foundation and First Giving (they collect the money). And, please visit my site at: MaineTrek com. PM me or post here, I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for listening and I appreciate any and all comments.

Hi Thomas,

I visited your site today an am very impressed with what you are doing.

I would like to help you raise funds for this worthy cause.

As well as giving you a donation I have the following suggestion:

I have a high traffic site at kimbro.net and would like to create a page on the site to help you. Also I will place links to your site on my other websites.

Perhaps people reading this post might do the same.

let me know what you think of this idea.

Thanks,

Kitty.

This is really a very good cause and I am indeed excited to do something voluntarily. I am a writer and tell me what kinds of articles should I contribute. I indeed like to be of some value in life!!!

Hi Thomas,

Ok I have placed a link on my site that give the next 5 new subscribers the option to donate their subscription fee to the NBTF instead of paying me.

I will now start working on a page on my kimbro.net site to get more traffic to your site as well.

Hope this helps, maybe other writers on this forum will follow suit. If they do you should get a lot of donations for this worthy cause.

Keep paddling and keep safe.

Kitty.

Promotion Tools To Help Tom Promote his Worthy Cause.

Hi Thomas,

I have placed a link on the "What's New Page" at KIMBRO.NET

This link leads to a promo page for your fund raising at:
" Give To A Worthy Cause " also on KIMBRO.NET

This page is very simple and I encourage everyone who wants to help to copy it and place it on their sites. Then encourage everyone you know to place it on their sites.

For people who do not have a site, there is an email signature you can copy on the page as well.

Don't know how to create an email signature?

Go to " Step by Step " the instructions on how "To compose a signature in your email" are about half way down the page.

Hope this helps,

Kitty.

Hi Thomas,
Yes I noticed, you may want to let people know that they can copy the page at: Give To A Worthy Cause This could bring in a lot of donations and more traffic to your site. Or ask people to link to your site. I am sure a lot of people would be willing to help.
