Hello All,
My name is John Natoli. I am a 20 year old web designer and father to be. My girlfriend and I found out a little over a month ago, and when we did, I started googling like mad for websites and online communities for dads. I came up with very little useful results. The pregnancy is unexpected and we are pretty unprepared, but luckily have the support of our families and have been committed to each other for 3 years before we found out. With this considered, it was disappointing to see the lack of resources out there for new dads, or dads in general.
Being a web designer, I decided to create one myself, but that's just it.. I can't do it myself. I've created the
website, but I need content. I am not a writer, although I will be writing some articles.
I can not pay anybody. I will put that out there now. I am a pretty good web designer though, and I am really proud of the site so far. I know that with time, and with contributions from writers and regular people, the site will grow and be highly ranked in search engines, especially considering the lack of competition specific to dads.
What I am asking for is any articles relating to parenting. I don't mind if they are written by women, as long as it is a specific parenting topic. Examples are: how to prepare and manage a long car ride with a toddler, how to help soothe a baby's cold, how to effectively discipline a child (in your opinion), and anything like that, especially if it is focused on the dad side of things. I'm also very open to just personal stories relating to parenthood, though I would prefer that those ones come from dads. I would like to even host fathering blogs on the website as well.
What I can offer in return is simply exposure. It really can only do good, and with time, a lot of good. I will link articles directly to your websites, (even create websites for you, if you are a prolific contributor:
here's a link to my portfolio), and provide special rankings in the forums. Also, I really feel that the website can do a lot of good. I'm lucky to have supportive family and friends, but still I'm super nervous, of course. It must be really hard for guys in my position without as much support. This will be a great place for dads of all kinds to get together and get/give advice on how to be better dads and be more effectively involved in their kid's lives, as well as just a positive, family and responsibility oriented place for dads to socialize.
Whether you're a casual writer, or a professional, I'm inviting you to the community to help make it a great place.
Thank You,
John Natoli
