Getting published?

Hello,

I've written a non-fictional inspirational/spiritual book and I sent my book proposal to hundreds (literally) of agencies and they all declined me, or haven't replied...

Is there anyone on here who can point me to some resource that I may be able to get my book published? I want to make money, yes because money is necessary in life and I am broke and really could use some right about now, but what I really hoped was that this book would be read by millions and that it would help people and impact them in a profound way.

If anyone here could email me, I can send my book proposal along with a .pdf version of my book, and if you would take the time to read it and let me know what you think, or offer some advice, etc... then I would appreciate it.

You can email me at:
got2nesa@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Robert

If hundreds of companies have rejected the book maybe it's time to work more on the book itself than on trying to sell it?

Unfortunately if you're after money you'd be better off being an escort.

I have been a published columnist for more than five years and have made in that total time... let me add it up.... £4500. That's not even a decent year's salary, never mind five. So if you're broke I'd do something else and give your book a really good edit.

Robert, try to think about this rationally. You think your book is great, inspirational, will change lives, etc. Hundreds (literally) of people think otherwise. On the balanc of probabilities, who's right, you, the biased author, or hundreds (literally) of professionals?

I think you need to accept that your book isn't currently in a publishable form. It may need a rewrite, it may stink like the corpse of a dead dog's arse, but you need to get realistic enough to be able to tell the difference.

Smile The answer

The traditional publishing industry is a game. Most new authors do not win the game of being traditionally published, because most publishers require that you submit to them through an agent. The problem is; it just as difficult to get an agent, as it is to get a publisher. It's not that your book isn't any good, it's just that it's extremely difficult to even play their game. I gave up on being traditionally published a long time ago. I even used self publishing companies to publish a few books. After I realized that I could start my own publishing company with less than five-hundred dollars in start-up capital, and keep all the royalties, I started Parallel View Publishing, and I am so happy that I did, I realized that there are a lot of frustrated authors out there who could profit from my experiences. I wrote about my experiences in a new book titled "Dollar Cost Self Publishing For Authors: How to Take Control of Your Publishing Destiny" Author: Jeremiah Hensley. Book stores are even ordering my books. I am one-hundred percent certain that any author who uses this plan of being published will thank me for writing this book. Welcome to Parallel View Publishing

Look at this--

Catalog page

What I'm 100% certain about is that I won't be buying a book with a spelling mistake in the title.

"Dollor cost" is about right. About $1.50 spent on that, I should think.

Did it ever occur to you Budha, that you had to resort to self publishing because your manuscript was chock full of misspelling and grammatical errors?

Food for thought.

Indeed, and this is a phenomenon I see quite a lot now. Budha (can't even spell that right) is Jeremiah Hensley, who writes prolifically but unsuccessfully. So he sets up his own publishing company (read 'badly designed website using a rubbish template) to sell his own books (he's the only author in the catalogue), and thinks he might earn a few extra dollars selling the idea to others.

I'd hesitate to call this scammery, because I think Budha's heart is probably in the right place, but he's selling a service for which he knows damn well there will be little or no return on investment.

Everyone gets a vote.

And an opinion... Steve, as the most successful (as far as I know) self-publisher here, what might the prospects be for a inspirational non fiction e-book?
