That depends upon the terms under which the developer is employed/engaged on the project. Any developer with an ounce of self-respect, professionalism and respect for their client should advise against a bad decision.

Well said that man! I'm a professional copywriter based in the UK - I pay my mortgage through writing - & get 99% of my work from my website - which is not some poxy portal but a living breathing website. I think all writers should look at the copywriting guys out there to see how it can be done - there's loads of blogs - here's one I found the other day The Copywriters' Resource which talks about setting up & business stuff. Remember if you want to be a success you need to act like a professional & that includes your website...

This thread is almost a year old. The site doesn't even exist anymore, hasn't since April 2007 (shortly after this thread was created), and the person who posted it hasn't been back to WF since March of last year.
