Script submission issues

Hey Guys,
I am an aspiring comic book creator. And I wanted to submit my scripts and stories to publishers. Now one thing I found common in most guidelines they provided that Please note that Dark Horse does not review unsolicited scripts, story ideas.

SIGNED SUBMISSION AGREEMENT
Dark Horse has the highest regard for creators and for the ownership of original properties, and this agreement should in no way be misconstrued as license for Dark Horse to appropriate your creations. This agreement protects Dark Horse from any liabilities involving coincidental similarities to works-in-progress or other submissions.

Where is the contract they are talking about.Am I supposed to like write that I will liable for my work an not the publishers on a blank peice of paper ans sign it or what?
Ans how do I get it solicited.
Sorry for being so naive. But better stupid than sorry.
thanks a lot.

no, you can't write it yourself...

if they're referring to an agreement, then one should be there somewhere... or at least mentioned as something you need to request be sent to you, signed and returned, before submitting work/ideas...

it's common in the film industry, and i'm not surprised to see the comics biz go the same route... all you need do is call or write that company and request a 'submission agreement' ... then follow their instructions for submitting your work/proposal...

that's how you get it to be 'solicited'...

fyi, that excerpt you quoted above contains this, further down:
"Obtain a copy of the agreement here."

and, below that:
"View or download a copy of the Submissions Agreement"

you need to pay better attention to what you're reading...

love and hugs, maia

Well I have some other questions too.
Quote:
You must include a full script for any short story or single-issue submission, or the first eight pages of the first issue of any series
My story is 9 issues long so does that mean I will have to send them the whole script.Or can I manage with only the first 8 pages.

And also
Quote:
the work is already completed, story, art, and lettering, copies of this may be sent instead.
will the same rule apply to the whole comic.will I have to send thw whole comic book or the 8 pages.
Please reply.

...as it says, 'the first 8 pages of the first issue' that's what they want... if you have 9 issues, or a dozen, it doesn't matter... they only want the first 8 pages of the first, not of the third or the seventh... get it now?

...i would assume they still want ONLY the first 8 pages, unless they say otherwise...

...if still in doubt, don't ask here, call the publishers and ask them...
