st... just checked out your site and links to your 'services page' in the FAQ section won't open, though the one on your home page does... you might want to fix those other links...
unfortunately, the info offered on that page needs serious editing itself... if you want examples, let me know and i'll post an edited/corrected excerpt here... if you prefer a private assessment, just drop me an email any time... btw, all i do is free, so don't worry about fees...
love and hugs, maia

I do realize that it needs some editing. I threw the website up to cover the glaring empty space.
Hmmm. . . I've looked through all of the links. All of them are opening fine for me, and I'm not on my home computer. I'm on a friends Mac using Safari instead of a PC running XP with Firefox. Can I ask what you're running? Perhaps it's a compatibility issue.
And I'd appreciate the help, I'll let you know.

Well, I just graduated with a B.A. in English, and I was taking technical editing classes in college. I've been doing some part time work in editing. Not anything that I can really claim on a resume though.
I'm trying to break into the field, which is why I'm offering to do it for free. If Raiden doesn't find my work helpful, he's free to take it to someone else.
I'll take your dare though. As I mentioned, you'll have to give me a few days on that though, I'm running a gauntlet at the moment.

I think I said a week, and it's been more than three. Sorry for the delay, but sometimes things happen. I'll take a look at your stories now Mike. Do you have a preference for which one I start with, and what format I return it to you? I prefer Word, since that's the industry standard, but it's up to you.

Me too. There's a trap in that story for the unwary copy-editor.

so, did you put it in on purpose, on the off-chance that some unwary c-e would wander your way, or what?

No, it was written that way originally. Just a bit of rule-bending.

a ' bit'?!?... it's such an idiosyncratically-structured piece, i don't know that any editor could deal with it, or be able to find what needs fixing that you'd be willing to fix...

I have to say, learning to adapt to Mike's writing style has been a challenge. Adapting "Strange Love" to even look over it has been interesting because I'm being forced to change the structure of the text to a more editor friendly format.
Now that I've read over the latest comments though, I'm terrified of the copy-editing trap.
I'll probably have it back to you in two or three days. We'll see how I do.

Eh, I probably should have mentioned this yesterday, but I've sent the editorial edits in to Mike.
