When to enquire
Three weeks ago, I received an email from the editor of a magazine saying that my story had been put forward, and I would recieve confirmation 'within two weeks'. Should I email them back and ask if they have made a decision, or wait a bit longer?

Yes, it is a week overdue. Nothing wrong with checking up to see what is happening. If they give times they should try to adhere to them so give them a call/email etc.
And Mike's question is valid - who are they & have you checked them out online?

Daisy, I hope you've already turned the story around and sent it out somewhere else? And started writing another?

Thank you Mike, I'll bear that in mind.
And to answer your questions, yes, I will be sending it to another possible market on Tuesday, when I have a day off and a little time, and I'm ALWAYS writing another! I made the decision that this will be my year to be published, and I will do everything in my power to make that happen. |
