Magazines that accept creative pieces
Does anyone know any magazines that take creative pieces?

sorry to sound lecture-y, bow, but finding out basic stuff like that is part of the 'job' of being a writer... writers market lists magazines in both their annual book edition and on their website [$3/month]... as does www.duotrope.com [free]... you can also just take a look at mags in your local bookstore or newsstand...
sure, probably everyone here knows of some mags, and could list them for you, but they all most likely had to look them up on their own... and did...
all that aside, what do you mean by 'creative pieces'?...

Atlantic Monthly, Virginia Quarterly. Does Playboy still do fiction?
Or do you want those that publish unknown writers? If so, then you really need more info - I'm not going to track down a bunch of SF mags if you're looking for mystery 'zines.
If you have a specific question then I'm sure the people here would be more than happy to help, but such a general question just leaves us scratching our heads.

I'm still new at this...
From what I've seen there's not as many markets as I would have thought, at least for sci-fi and horror in Writers Market, which is pretty handy. Most of them seem to fold fairly quickly too.
The only thing I've gotten published from info used in Writers Market was a... ahem... "letter" in Penthouse Variations... sigh... maybe someday I'll be able to go legit heh.

try us?
Hi,
We're keen for this not to sound like a site plug - we're non-profit anyway, so don't think of it like that. We are Small Fish Online ( www.smallfish-online.net) and we publish creative pieces, both fiction and non-fiction. Our founding editors are all professional journalists and writers, and set up the ezine up to give unpublished talent some exposure.
Email the crew at contact@smallfish-online.net if you'd like to submit.

duotrope.com is an amazing resource, but finding a publication that "accepts creative pieces" is the easy part; finding a publication that will accept YOUR creative piece is a challenge onto itself...

A far more successful writer than me once told me "Getting published is easy. It's writing something good enough that's the hard part."

Perhaps then, Mike, we could get a little operation going: you hook me up with a writer who gets published easily but doesn't have quality material, and I'll provide him quality material that just can't yet manage to get published.
