there are many reputable venues for publishing individual poems... you'll find a list in the latest edition of 'poets market'...
www.duotrope.com also has listings and it's the easiest/quickest way to find publishers of short fiction and poetry online... plus, it's free!...
as for books, all you'll find are the vanity-publishers and total scams, sorry to say... legit traditional [= paying] book publishers won't publish poetry collections of unknowns, because they can't make any money with them... most won't even take on a book of poetry by famous [or infamous] folks, because few people like poetry enough to pay 20 bucks or more to read it...
your best bet is submitting single poems to magazines that print the kind of stuff you write... if all you care about is having it seen, the majority of e-zines will take just about anything from anybody... they're freebies, but you'll see your poem 'out there' and others will be able to read it... a rare few online venues pay for work...
print mags pay the best, but it's still not much... and many pay only in copies... but there, you get to see your work in print and have something tangible to show for it...
be sure to check out any you consider submitting to on preditors & editors, to see if they're listed... and do your own requisite research, checking guidelines and the issues themselves, to make sure your work fits with what they usually publish...
hope this helps... hugs, maia
