Judging by the preview, the usual pulp. Cliche dialogue, a heap of adverbs, that's usually a sure sign. Also, the description is clumsy and fragmented.
Yes, the book is in it's raw state. He has an agent who thought enough of the novel to accept it and help him edit. He is not paying this agent to help him get published but the agent only makes money if the book is published.
I don't think an agent would waste his time on normal pulp. The novels concept is not normal pulp and it will be published in the future. I have read too many books to know it is better than many already published.
