How are book prizes fixed

Hi everone!

I will really apreciate it if any one can tell me how prize are fix on books, is it by there categorise, that is, romace novels have a specifice price and thriller and the others have specifice prize too? and is the author's commission base on the currecy the book is being sold.

Hope to get a good and clare answer to these question.

No offence, but is this a joke? Half of what you just wrote made NO sense.
Please clarify (and edit) what you posted.

Are you asking what the author sees (money wise) after sales?

i'm assuming english is not your first language... but still, spelling is an important detail, if you want people to know what you're saying...

guessing you meant 'price' and not 'prize'... each publisher decides what price to set on their books...

no...

the author doesn't get a 'commission' [that's what an agent gets]... the author's payment is called a 'royalty' and is a percentage of the retail price of the book [the percentage varies from publisher to publisher]... it's paid to the author by the publisher, usually at specified intervals...

i hope that's clear enough... for more detailed info just check some publisher's websites... and browse http://www.anotherealm.com/prededitors/ where you'll find detailed info on all aspects of writing/publishing...

love and hugs, maia
