Chris Miller has a point. If one enters, one actually does have nothing to lose. There are no guarantees, as in anything in life, but If jonny wants to spend a grand publicising his site, why not? I know plenty of people who've spent more.

Cool contest...I just submitted a poem.
Dumb question of course, but are we allowed to submit more than one piece?

This contest is still ongoing.
Unfortunately, the level of interest (50 entries to trigger judging and payout) has been very low to date. How strange the lure of $1000 is so low? I realize my content, and perhaps my amateur-looking site, as well as disbelief, may be contributing factors. Nevertheless, I'm keeping my word that the $1000 prize is still up for grabs and will remain there until paid out.
With that said, I did take time off (months) from posting on my site, or even visiting it (it is a hobby site and my recent career change and binge drinking diverted me), but I never took the contest down. Additionally, during this time, I had a site conversion, and a lot of the punctuation and spacing in the submissions was corrupted. My inactivity in fixing these glitches probably made it look like I'd abandoned the site, but I hadn't. I was just being negligent.
So, if you have already made an entry, please take this as my permission to check your entry for any conversion/editing errors and fix them. I know that the rules say you can't alter your submission once posted, but this is an exception connected to a technical error: the site conversion and my attempted edits.
I look forward to your submissions.
Thanks,

SEVEN MONTHS is quite a long time to be waiting for a contest to close and find out if one's won, or not... the excuses you gave [if not a joke] don't let you off the hook for poor managing and abusing those 50 applicants' trust...
if you're really sincere, prove it by closing the durn thing and give out the prizes, with no more fudging about submitters fixing errors, et al.

There are 7 entrants to date.
The rules say 50 entries must be made to trigger the contest end date.
I am willing to entertain a discussion of a rules change in my forums, in the General Discussion section.
I am only concerned with the opinions of contest entrants. I can change the rules in any way, and still be fair, if I have unanimous consent to a rules change from all who have entered by the date a rules change vote is made.

if you've only gotten 7 entrants in 7 months, it should be clear to anyone that you won't reach that 50 figure in our lifetime... so, does that mean you get to keep your thousand bucks, and those who submitted their work in good faith get skunked?
