As a reader, I would not like to read a book in text format. It's aesthetically unappealing to look at, which would make enjoying the story all the more difficult.

As a writer, much of the appeal of being published is having your ideas turn from abstract thoughts to a physical reality. To a book. One that can be carried around and enjoyed at the reader's discretion. I would like to tell someone who wants to read my novel that they can find it at any bookstore, rather than saying "do you have a pen to write down this URL?"

Your idea may seem good to you because it is off the beaten path, and stresses reader convenience, but I think it is an inadequate form of publishing. And like mamamaia said, no author would want to relinquish publishing rights.

Keep that brain working, you'll come up with something.

I don't think that's why the idea appeals. It's an opportunity to make money for little work or expenditure. That's the appeal.

As web space costs nothing, and e-books cost nothing to produce, and their value (to me, at least) is nothing, I'll extend the same offer I did last time I saw someone proposing the same rubbish.

Have you got an e-book? Tell me about it. I'll promote it on one of my sites... free. If you're willing to give it away.

Got an e-book you want to sell? Same applies. If there's a few of you, I'll even set up an e-store and sell them for you at the price you set, and I don't want even a sniff of your rights. I'll take whatever percentage of the sale price you think is appropriate (if you think 0% is appropriate, then that's fine by me.)

Point being, whoever started this thread wants something for nothing To make sure he has no chance of success, I'm willing to offer something for nothing.
