Contacting magazines...

Hey, guys. I keep hearing and reading that if you want to get noticed, get short stories and poems published in magazines. Okay, that's nice and good, but I have a problem ... How do I go about doing that?

I know I have to contact the editor of the magazine, but - what magazine? I write fantasy and really, really morbid things - I don't think Reader's Digest wants to hear a short story about psychopaths and animal-people.

I guess what my question is - Does any one know of any decent fiction mags I can contact?

Mike?

Anyone?

Selorian is an unknown quantity at this point
Pick up a copy of the current Writer's Market at a bookstore or library. They have an excellent listing. There is also a web version available for a nominal membership fee at www.writersmarket.com.

Three excellent online resources are:

Preditors & Editors

Duotrope's Digest

Ralan.com

All three of these include paying and non-paying markets, as well as list information about ratings for each.

Hope this helps and good luck.
