Where in Canada
If I get my short story to a point that it is really good.
Where in Ontario or Canada can I submit it?
Any good and current links?
Thanks

why limit yourself to canada?... is the story only suitable for canadian readers?... check the listings on www.duotrope.com ...you can also google for canadian short story publishers... and/or check latest edition of writer's market in book form or subscribe to the site for only 3 bucks [us] a month...
hugs, maia

No of course not but I thought I should start small
Plus to be honest, If I sent in my story to an American publication , would I have to change my spelling of words that are perhaps Canadian? like coloUr instead of color? things like that.
I would be curious if Canadian writers have this pressure to not write with Canadian spelling, which for most part is still the british spelling of words I guess.
Do they edit and change words?
I am not going to spell American style however they are free to edit it themselves I guess.

some rocking canadian publications?
the fiddlehead, prairie fire, grain, the new quarterly, descant, prism international, geist, etc etc
google any one of them. they all pay decently and look mighty fine on any aspiring canadian writers by line.

in submitting to us publications, it's not necessary to change the spelling... editors will be focused on your story, and not care if it's uk or us style spelling...
many us venues publish writers from their neighbor to the north, so go ahead and submit to anywhere you think is appropriate to the story itself... same goes for british venues, where you'll at least be considered a cousin of sorts...

Regarding spellings, I don't know if you object to American spellings or if you simply don't feel like learning them, but if it is the latter, it's easily fixable. In Microsoft Office, you can customize your spellcheck so you can switch from Canadian English to British English to US English to Australian English. To set this up click on "start" at the bottom of your computer, go to "all programs," then "Microsoft Office," to "Microsoft Office Tools" to "language settings."
I use this all the time. At work, we have both American and Canadian clients, so I'm always switching back and forth between dictionaries. Also, I'm on the editorial staff of an e-zine that has a policy that we edit spelling according to the author's nationality. I find it to be a very handy trick .

Thanks for your feedback, it was more of an issue of did I have to send it to an American location already spelled in American spelling if I had words that required it. Its just a Canadian thing thats all.
I know what they are its just I choose to spell in the Canadian way when I have to choose between "colour or color" etc.
