Anne, thank you sooooo much!!! Believe me when I tell you that this is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me online!
And to top it off, you succeeded where I failed and actually managed to elict a response from one of the moderators, albeit one which is quite perplexing and irksome. I re-read Garth's "entry" from the cached link to the page I posted earlier, and the paragraph which this "Tomomi" mentions seems added-on more for effect in relation to the story rather than as an indicator highlighting the fact that the story was a creation of an author other than "Garth". How "anyone" could perceive it the way "Tomomi" wants us to believe is beyond my abilities to fathom. Furthermore, no decent person would actually post a work by someone else without mentioning the source and author, to do otherwise is the very "definition" of plagiarism. I am however relieved to know that the offending page on that particular site has now been removed.
Anne, because of you I can finally rest easy on this issue, for which you have my deepest gratitude!

Aw, you're welcome! It just made me really mad for you! I know how I would feel if someone did that to me... I did email her back, BTW with almost the same response you had. And I emailed Garth and asked him if he was scared of being sued since there was proof out there the story wasn't his. I totally think you should go after him.

Hi,
Check out 'Ripping it off', and 'Really, how important is copyright for a first-time writer.' I wish those threads would just disappear. I'm tired of them.
People actually don't believe that any of this happens. I wish it hadn't happened to you, but I'm glad I'm not alone on this anymore.
I've been through Hell, and now I'm trying to change the Copyright law.
Good luck on your Projects, welcome to the Forum, and have a great day!

The first issue, as I see it, is whether they printed a story without the author's permission? Yes - both sides readily admit to this.
Second, did they violate the spirit of the copyright law? They claim No, you claim Yes. I can't know for certain the answer to this, but I am inclined to side with the author in such occassions.
Lastly, and absolutely the most importantly - you plainly let them know that you weren't satisified. Their response? Was it to offer you proper attribution? Remove the post? No - it was to site-ban you. Truely unclassy.

[Sigh!] Believe me Anne, I would if I could, unfortunately the fact that around 4000 miles separate us is more than adequate to afford Garth solace from my wrath.

petitions author, if what I have read on some of the other related threads is true, then my plight seems totally inconsequential and trivial in comparision to yours. I can therefore sympathize with your frustration; if I was a U.S resident I would've signed your petition in a heartbeat. Anyhow, I wish you the best of luck!
BTW, this site I came across seems quite enlightening, especially for those who like to publish their work online:

Absolutely! But I guess that is bound to happen when the owner of the site himself is the plagiarist. [I guess I can smile about it now ]

I am sorry for you. I wish I could do more. If only I was a lawyer... But alas, I am but lowly writer, like yourself and do not undestand these matters much! God forbid it ever happens to me though... They wouldn't kow what hit them!

You have done more than enough! I am truly smitten by your kindness. I sincerely hope you are spared this scourge plaguing the internet, but if anything untoward like this does happen online, look me up, we'll go after the damnable wretches together.
I now go back to the land of Lurkdom.
Wishing you the best of luck and success with your writing projects!

Hi again.
I'm finally getting signatures for my Petition. I posted it on another site, worked out great.
Stayed up all night to do it, I'm exhausted.
You wished me luck, I appreciate that.
Good luck on your Projects, and have a great day! p.a.

I signed up on that website also and wrote a piece on how Garth stole your work and I got banned . Whatever though man I did what I felt was right and I would never stay in a forum like that anyways.
Sincerely - J.C
