We are searching for contributing writers for a book anthology entitled ‘Literally Speaking’.

-Writers will receive 50% in royalties on book sales.
-Authors own all rights to their literature.
-Approximate Release Date: April of 2006

Writing Guidelines

All writing samples must be typed double spaced, 12 point font (Arial, Courier or Times New Roman) and must be aligned to the left margin. The maximum pages for poetry are 3 to 5 pages (2000 word maximum); short stories and all other categories are 10 to 20 pages (8000 word maximum).

Note: There is a one time administration fee which will cover the cost of your personal web page maintenance fee and shipping & handling of your free copy of 'Literally Speaking'.

Personally, this is why I think anyone who actually wants to be a writer should stay clear of the term self-publish wherever they meet it. Leeches!

While I've not heard of Johnson, Jakes, McMillan, or Rombauer and, with John Grisham, it's obvious why some become self-published.

The others, your Hemingways and Poe's, lived in times before we do now where any fool with a pen and paper (or, more likely, computer) can write and publish something. There's a reason, however, why we have publishing houses these days...quality control.

Although, it doesn't always work out.

And don't PM me with your reply again; I'm quite capable of reading this forum.

Just out of curiosity, if I already have my own website and have no interest in "personal web page maintenance" (as tempting as a glorified geocities site sounds) could you drop the fee? Oh, but the magazine. Does that magazine go out to anyone who is not involved in your self publishing program? I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but I'm not sure having my name mentioned to the kid wanting to have his Deep Space Nine fan fiction published is going to help much of anything.

along with that 'one-time fee' that is an instant red flag, doesn't anyone else find the 'Writers will receive 50% in royalties on book sales.' laughable?

50% of what?... does that mean there will only be 2 writers in this so-called 'anthology' and they will share the full amount of royalties equally?...

and, what about that silly reference to 'book anthology'?... is there any other kind?... this is a joke, folks... do not ever PAY to have your work included in anything!... not unless you fully intended to self-publish it and know you'll most likely never make a penny and the book will not appear in any book stores unless you put it there yourself...

...if it's the one listed on imdb, according to his self-written, self-submitted listing, the self-published novel is also self-produced by the author, with no known actors, the writer being also the producer, the director, and playing a main character... gives the term 'home movie' a whole new dimension, doncha think?

...if it's not that 'under surveillance' then why isn't it there, since movies slated for release in 2005 or 2006 are usually listed... or, do you mean something other than the standard industry definition of 'sold' and 'in the process of being cast and shot' by the term, 'in pre-production'?... in either case, i have to wonder why the novel isn't listed on amazon, as even most self-published books are found there...

you certainly made it sound like something else. I do hope you'll clarify, because at the moment your posts suggest that you're trying to deceive people, and if that's so, I feel it only fair to warn others about you and your business on other writing forums that I use.

And if you look at that list of published authors... almost centuries ago. Get a good publisher (I recommend Prima Packaging division of Randomhouse) and all these scammers need to shut the hell up!
