Moderators and Mentors are here to help

Below is a list of what various mentors and moderators feel comfortable writing and critiquing. Referring to it before PMing a staff member for help or critique will ensure you receive advice best suited to your genre of writing.

damien: Sci-fi, especially hard science, cyberpunk, vampire fiction, with a dabble in fantasy

Selorian: Fantasy, Sci-Fi (light, definitely not hard), & Horror.

valeca: History/historical, cultural, ritual, meta-fiction, and short humour. Emphasis on ancient to middle history.

Farror: Mostly poetry.

Aevin: Fantasy, adventure, horror and other fiction. Especially for teens. (But sometimes with more adult themes than I'd like to admit).

bobo: Fiction, or perhaps even humor or lighter non-fiction. I'll sometimes read poetry here, but will really only give my uninspired feedback on it if pressed.

Pawn: Any poetry or prose which you have a serious desire to improve.

Lisa: What I like to read/write: Poetry or short stories. Both YA and adult. Any genre (but fantasy, historical or sci-fi). Medicine, psychology, the dark side to a human's mind.

With the last thing, pretty much any story/poem that's too sexual or violent in nature to be posted in the forum can be sent to me.

Talia_Brie: I write primarily heroic fantasy and some horror. I've got an Honours degree in Creative Writing. While I actually won't be critiquing a lot here (and will probably not post anything original unless specifically requested) I will be able to give general tips etc in Writing Tips and Advice. That's where you'll see me most of the time.

silverwriter: I write mainly fantasy but will try my hand at nearly anything. For technical stuff, I'll critique pretty much anything, though I prefer fiction in fantasy, suspense, horror, or humor. I know a little about HTML, websites, blogs... Otherwise, odds and ends on a lot of subjects. Just ask. If I don't know, I'll try to help you in the direction of someone who does.

Ilan Bouchard: Hit me up with any questions regarding poetry. Most knowledgeable in sonnet and haiku forms, but I can manage with any others, I think. I can help with short stories/fiction, but I don't do fantasy or horror.

I'm curious if anyone is competent in Spanish. I know this is an English forum, but I often have questions concerning Spanish grammar and such. Is that asking too much of the staff?

Achilles - while I'm not staff...I'm reasonably fluent in Spanish and could at least attempt to answer your questions. PM me if you want.

Thanks a lot Rico. I'll remember that the next time I'm stumped.

As a new Mentor I should probably jump in here with my preferences.

I write primarily heroic fantasy and some horror. I've got an Honours degree in Creative Writing. While I actually won't be critiquing a lot here (and will probably not post anything original unless specifically requested) I will be able to give general tips etc in Writing Tips and Advice. Hi

I've recently posted a request to find some mentors who I can link to from my site - your list here is well suited with a nice list of a variety of writers. How may I contact you?

Thanks

Is it possible that I can link to this page and to your emails via a form on my site? Your emails will be hidden and all that will happen is if someone wants their story read they can send a request you.

Thanks

That doesn't sound very professional on your end. Plus, the staff aren't critique-bots.

writerofthedead is on a distinguished road
I'm writing something thats YA it hasn't yet transformed into anything yet. It will eventually have vampires but not the normal vampire. Like yeah sure their blood-sucking but my vamp *Dante* is not ruthless and cold more along the lines just needs a partner. He doesn't turn into a bat, garlic doesn't affect him, let's take a walk in the sunlight! But he does move faster than regular people (like a hundred times faster) he's super strong too. I need critique badly!!!! No ones been helping me much. I noticed that no mentors prefer romance? I'm hoping that's what mine will turn into but not yet. Please notify all the mentors I need help! Or at least a comment. Or someone to tell me its ok, good, has potential, totally freakin sucks or whatever! I would love you forever!!!!! PLEASE! Thank you in advance.

You don't really need to read chapter 1 to understand chapter 2
