Anyone here use Ulysses?
If you want more info on this program, click here. I downloaded the demo and was very confused to start off with. But, after going through the HTML tutorial that's included with the demo, I've fallen in love with this program. I haven't bought it yet as it is a bit expensive (~$115 US), and I would like to get some opinions from people who use it.
If anyone of you guys use this program, let me know what you think...good or bad. It seems like a very solid idea, and so far it seems very well executed too.
FYI, the website really doesn't do it justice. The tutorial that comes with the demo is much more useful in explaining exactly what this program does.
Thanks in advance

why would you need it?... ms word does all that any writer of anything but scripts could want... and you can get ms word for macs, can't you?... what more can this program offer that's needed badly enough to pay such a steep price for it?... even if it's a bit less expensive than ms word, word is what most editors and publishers use, so you'd be better off being totally compatible, don't you think?

I honestly thought the same thing until I tried Ulysses. It's all about organization. An organization plan that's followed consistently is better than any organization plan or software that's not followed. I used to be into photography (went through a phase I guess), and I had the hardest time keeping all of my photos organized into proper folders. I put some here, some there, etc.
So, that said, left to my own devices, I'm not going to be able to organize the separate parts of research, plotline ideas, characters, etc. into separate documents and keep them in the correct place. Ulysses allows me to keep them all in one Project...which would make sure I kept myself organized.
Also, yes, MS Word is available for Mac. Unfortunately when it comes to Mac, Word is no longer sold separately from the complete office package. To get any part of MS Office, you must buy the entire thing. And, the cheapest non-student/teacher version of the software is $400 according to the Apple store. According to Blue-Tec's site, Ulysses has many many export options and plug-ins that, my guess, would allow for export in regular MS Word .doc format.

There are free alternatives, e.g., Open Office and Abiword, which provide analogous functionality to Word and can save documents in Word format.

On it's own Word does lack support for film and television scripts but if you visit here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/scriptsmart/
You should find just the thing you need.

Nope...not at all. I actually just ran into it while searching for writing specific tools on the web. I also looked into Writer's Cafe ( http://www.writerscafe.co.uk/) and OmniOutliner ( http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnioutliner/ ...neither made by blue-tec) as tools to help me out. Didn't mean to come across as a salesman...just when I find something I truly like and want to buy, I try to research it a bit first. I figured someone here had to have used it.
