We accept most genres, Dephere. Most important thing is that the novel is well-written and catches attention of the reader.

Okay, what translates as 50 pages on the computer? Or is that fifty pages typed on the computer?

I'm very interested.

50 pages would be 75 pages in print, Dephere.

Okay, I'm still kind of confused. 50 pages would be how many on word? 75?
Is that what you were saying?

I'm sorry to be so naive about things like this...hope it doesn't deter you from my work.

Mike C - I don't know who you are, but I am going to stand up in defense of Nickie here.

This place is for people to help one another. If you don't like the venture Nickie is undertaken, then keep it to yourself.

Come on man. I mean quit acting childish here.

Sure, you have questions, but leave them at that. Questions. From the posts I have read so far, you are beating this issue all the way to china, the horse is dead, get a life, get a grip and just swallow your pride and walk away.

For pete's sake man. You approach publishers and literary agents like this?

If so, then I think you need to just chuck your computer, your manuscripts out the door and deal with the reality that you are being such a prick about it.

I am not going to make any apology. You are blatantly attacking people here on the boards. You attack Janelle, and now you are attacking Nickie.

I think it is time that you shut your mug and deal with the answers given or go back to your mommy and tug at her apron.

That is all I have to say

!~~~kicks his soap box hard into the the corner as wood explodes upon impact~~~!

If you've finished spitting your dummy, I should remind you that this thread was actually dead and buried until you started working yourself up into a lather of moral indignation. And Nickie has proven herself quite capable of defending herself.

I'll not get drawn into further discussions on Nickie's enterprise, but will answer in generalities.

Yes, this place is here for writers to help eachother. Our aim, for the most part, is to get published and achieve the highest level of success possible within our field/genre. We're all on the same team in that respect.

It is an unfortunate fact of life that not everyone else in the world is on the same team as us, even those that operate in the same field. And I'm pointing no fingers here, just talking generalities. Take a look at P&E for long, long lists of agents/pseudo agents/publishers etc whose sole purpose in life is to part authors from their money.

Then there is an even wider group of well meaning people who fancy publishing as a profession, and dive in. Like any other business venture, if you're not 100% up to speed, you're liable to fail, or at least fail to achieve very highly. And publishing is a compepetive business.

There is a big difference between publishing and most other businesses though - when you're a publisher you're holding someone else's hopes and dreams in your hand. It's not like selling TV's, where every store on earth has the same products and if you don't sell it, someone else will - to extend the simile, it'a like someone has spent mayne years making a TV, put everything they have into it. If you're not working flat out to sell it, and the other stores are selling the competitors, your author is sunk.

If someone goes into the business of representing the hopes and reams of others, regardless of who they are and whether or not they're nice, well meaning people, they should expect to get asked difficult questions.

being a member of this forum does not make you a sacred cow. I've been around long enough, both as a writer and in business, to see when something's a good bet and when it's questionable. And if I consider it questionable, then - as a writer, and a team player, and in the spirit of writers helping one and other as opposed to just saying nice things about eachother - I reserve the right to question it.

I just wanted to let you all know that NF Publishing is now officially into business. My registration and VAT identification numbers arrived today (such a pity that administration takes so long).

I really want to make a success of this - it's not something I dive in with eyes wide shut. I have been thinking about it for a long time, and want to do my best for the authors under contract.

Queries shall be dealt with in a fair way. If I think your work doesn't make a chance on the markets, I'll tell you straight on. On the other hand, any author who has a great story will be offered a contract - which he/she can choose to accept or not.

The website for NF Publishing is ready, but it will take some more days to have the link with the altered domain name activated. I'll keep you up to date!

The link to the site is - for the time being - www.nfpublishing.be

Do to unforeseen events, the person who was going to make a professional site got very ill, and I am now looking for a payable solution to my problem. For the time being, I'm using this frame offered by Webbuilder. At least I could place my info in it. It's very simple, as I am no website designer, but I guess it'll have to do.

In a later stage, the site will look completely different and there will be, for instance, paying options like Paypal and credit cards. Also a bookstore with something to show. The first books should be there by May.
