AssociatedContent.com

AssociatedContent is a site that pays for freelance articles. You sign up, write an article about something, and then submit it. Then an editor will read it and decide if they want it. If they do, he will make an offer of between $3 and $100 for it (though I do believe anything above $20 is rare; I got an offer for $10 for ~1600 words and that seems to be the norm). You may choose to submit non-exclusive work (which means that you still retain the right to publish it elsewhere, but you get less pay) or without any monetary consideration. They pay to US residents of 18 years of age or older, through paypal.

It was about buying a handheld computer. It's not online yet, though.

I'm in the UK- does that mean that I can't take part?

I know you said US residents, but wondered if they had a program for non-US residents.

I don't think they allow non-US residents to write for them. I could be wrong though, I haven't actually written anything for them since I posted this. (As you might have noticed I do not live in the US. I lied...)

You just sign up for a paypal account, and when they wishes to pay you they send you an email with a link in it. Click on the link, and money is transferred from their paypal account to yours.

Actually, I was wondering if this kind of work counts as a merit. I mean, it is payed work, and the type of article wouldn't be out of place in highly professional sites like cnet.com. But an amateur like me got "published" with something I threw together in an hour or two.
