I'm submitting several sonnets to a publisher. I never title my sonnets beyond numbering, so I'm unsure of what to send them. Should I come up with another title for them, or just leave it as the number?

As a side note, what file format will editors want a piece in if it isn't specified. doc? or txt?

i personally abhor numbered-only poetry, because it doesn't allow me to decide beforehand, whether it's on a subject i want to bother reading... i view it as a 'conceit' of the writer... or expect the writing to be substandard, if the poet can't even come up with an appropriate title for his/her own work...

in case editors where you're submitting may be of the same opinion, i'd advise taking the time and trouble to name them...

i doubt anyone will want txt... an ms word document is what most editors expect, if emailed as an attachment... but many venues pecify putting the submission into the body of the email, since they don't accept attachments due to virus concerns...

the best thing to do is have your work in ms word and convert to rtf for transmission, so it can be opened by most programs and still retain your formatting...
