My First Project

My name is Erika Jackson (formerly Price), and I used to work at Christian Life Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I left working there in April of this year and launched a career in publishing. My company, Turnaround Publishing, is in its infancy, and I am expecting wonderful returns. That brings up the reason for this post.

My first publishing project is a book by my good friend Linda Newberry called Riches and Honor: Transform Your Life with God's Powerful Word. As a Christian writer, myself, RICHES and HONOR had the same impact on me that Joel Osteen’s book Your Best Life Now had. My life is forever changed as a result of it. This book teaches you how to actively use God’s word to create positive change in your life. RICHES and HONOR merges the time-honored principles of Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich with the practical disciplines of Bruce Wilkinson’s The Prayer of Jabez.

Linda delves deep into the meaning of Isaiah 60 and paints a poignant picture of success for readers. Having lived through financial disaster and near mental collapse, Linda has created a significant positive net worth as a result of the amazing affirmation created from God’s words to His people. Unlike Think & Grow Rich, that only tells readers what needs to change, RICHES and HONOR is an actual tool that can be used every day to bring about the change recommended by Mr. Hill.

Everyone who loved The Prayer of Jabez will indeed appreciate the power of the words in Isaiah 60 to transform their lives. Much like Jabez, RICHES and HONOR offers a specific tool to be used during meditation time to create altered thinking. It is a daily affirmation based on the in-depth translation of the scripture. Use this affirmation as a daily devotional, small group study tool, or make it a gift!

How can YOU help? Buy the book. Buy as many copies of the book as you want. Tell your friends to buy the book. We are trying to make it to the New York Times Bestseller List by the end of the year. Click http://www.richesandhonor.com/indexej.htm to order your copy today! Visit my website at http://thecoach.bravehost.com.

Having faith in God, I can't say that books like these don't annoy me and upset me. I don't think God ever intended for us to pick out choice verses and try to live our whole lives around them. If we write whole books and live whole lives on the foundation of a single verse, we miss the points made in all the other pages and words.

This also feels too...televangelist to me. If you're going to be advertising it like this, maybe tone it down a little. The presentation sort of makes me feel like I'm going to hear, "BE HEALED!" any moment now.

Thirdly, the book won't get far in marketing if it's hoested on bravehost. Consider looking into search engine optimization for your website and hiring a real web designer. These are steps in good internet marketing.

It's a good book

Linda does not neglect the rest of the scripture. She is just providing a tool whereby believers can practice saying about themselves what God already said about them. Isaiah 60 is just one of the scriptures she has studied and created an affirmation from. We're in the process of creating more of the same type of tool.

Thanks for the tips on my web site and marketing. Right now we are using the least expensive means of getting the word out about the book. We have several campaigns in the works. Do you do Marketing? What other suggestions do you have?

I do web design and search optimization; if you'd like, I could help you out.

And sorry if I seemed a little tetchy before. I just have a real problem with books that focus on only parts of Christianity and God (such as "doing this will make you money" and "doing this will get you healed"). It's just a personal thing, but if you guys aren't doing that, that's great.

Not Offended

It would take more than that to offend me. I'm always glad for the feedback. It only makes me better.

Can I use your search optimization techniques with a Bravenet web page? Actually, Linda's web page isn't on Bravenet. That's just my personal site until I start making some money. I'm looking at a software for search engine optimization. Do you have any suggestions? What about blogging? Do you know any way we can capitalize on that?

erika...
i'm not sure this board is an appropriate place to post a sales pitch for a book that is not written by one of the members here...

as far as i know, it's intended for questions and info relating to publishing, not for advertising one's wares... your follow-up posts do ask for input in re marketing, but you might ask one of the mods if the book tout itself wouldn't be better placed somewhere else on the forum...

as with lelia, i mean no offense, but i think it's counter to the forum's purpose to use it just as an advertising venue, for selling books...

love and hugs, maia

Thanks

I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I will ask the mods where in the forum would be a better place for that.

This is a place for publishers to talk about publishing, right? Are you a publisher? Do you have any recommendations for a newbie regarding marketing?

no, i'm not a publisher... i just work with lots and lots of newbies who want to get published... not knowing anything about how your business is set up, i can't really offer any specific advice, but why don't you email me and i'll see what i have in my files of 'tips' and stuff that might be helpful...

new, small, indie publishers face almost as deadly odds as do new writers, but time, patience, and perseverance can pare down those odds considerably...

ps: btw, neither of those site links worked, when i tried them... when finished loading, all that shows is a blank page... m
