Good questions. I didn't want to answer all of them here and create a big long post, but anyone who clicked on the link --
http://www.kidmercurypublishing.com/workshop -- will see them there. But here's the deal:
No upfront payment.
Royalty = Reveue Received Per Copy - Cost Per Copy / 2 / Number of contributing authors.
Example: Let's say the book sells for $10. Let's say after shipping and printing and such that leaves $5. Divide that by two and you get $2.50. Let's say there are 10 stories, so divide the $2.50 by 10 and you get $.25 per sale. Obviously not a ton of money, but a good way for authors to get some free publicity.
Rights: Non-exclusive. Feel free to publish it all over the place if you want, publish it in other books, etc. There will be a digital version of this that is distributed free though, so please bear that in mind.
Once again, the primary objective of this is to give talented authors exposure. We are more concerned with exposure and less concerned with revenue. If you are talented and you get exposure, revenue will be easy to obtain later. The hard part is getting exposure, which is what we're trying to do.
Feel free to ask more questions, either here on this thread (if the mods find that to be acceptable) or over at the forum referenced earlier. There are no hidden tricks. I wish I was that clever, but I'm not.
