Tartt First Fiction Award

Tartt First Fiction Award

This contest for book-length collections of short stories is being run by the Livingstone Press, University of West Alabama, and is open to American authors who have not yet had a fiction book published.

$15 entry fee. Deadline: December 31st.

The winning collection will be published; winner receives $1000 plus royalty contract, plus 100 copies of their book.

Agreed. Its the sort of thing I would have seriously considered entering if I'd been eligible.

However, if you check the university presses, you'll find there are plenty of them over here that offer contests and publishing for us Brits. In fact, I think I've posted one or two of them in this section in the past. But you're right, the US does seem to have a lot more.
