The best thing about notebooks is when you forget why it's there, or you can't put it into prose or fiction. Then suddenly i's there, you knwo exactly why your muse nudged you on the shoulder and made you write it down.

I keep a notebook for each work, as well as a folder/binder of scrap ideas, partial starts, and excercises I've done. Usually these are the flip style notebooks that I love so much, stuffed with printer sheets and looseleaf. I would drive an organized person crazy I think.
