The title of my book

Ok, I found out just a few minutes ago that there is a novel, by Meg O'brien I believe, that is titled Crimson Rain. That is the same title as my book, which I hoped to try and get published eventually. Here is my question. Would this cause problems if it has the same title? Would I have to change the title to somthing totaly different, or just make it The Crimson Rain or somthing like that?

I was just wondering if this would conflict with the possible publishing of the book. Thanks in advance ^_^

Sorry, I meant yes. Publishing agencies have their own crack teams of copyright enforcers—if your title even so much as looks like one of their books', they'll send the enforcers your way and they'll cut off your hands and tongue so you can't write ever again.

Nah. If your title was very unique and it was the same as some other book's (like if you called your book The Chronicles of Narnia) then there might be a problem. But Crimson Rain isn't unique in the sense that it uses fictional words and people, so there's no problem.

keep in mind that publishers will often dump your beloved title anyway... and they're not going to be rating your title choice, only the quality of your work and its market potential...

besides which, there are many books out there with the same title... just check loc listings and you'll see...

No, you wouldn't have to change it...for example...I read this book a long time ago called...uh...well, seems I forgot what it was called. Anyway, I went to the bookstore, saw it on the bookshelf, bought it, and it wasn't the same book, even though it had the same name.
Just a little irritating. >_<
