Seeking submissions for Antithesis Common Literary Magazine
Antithesis Common is currently accepting submissions for our Fall 2005 issue. We are looking for creative writing (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, commentary, etc.) as well as art (comics, paintings, sculpture, photography, etc.). All writers and artists will receive personal feedback on their pieces regardless of whether or not we decide to publish it, so take a leap of faith and give us a try!
The deadline for the Fall 2005 issue is September 1st; however, we publish 4 issues a year, so if you miss that one then there's always December 1st (and March 1st, and June 1st...)
Additional submission guidelines can be found by visiting our site:
http://www.antithesiscommon.com
Questions? Drop us a PM or email antithesiscommon@yahoo.com
Thanks!

whoever you are:
imo, it's always best [and courteous] to mention up front whether you are a paying venue or not... it will save folks time and trouble trying to find out which, by having to go to the site and hunt for the info...
moderators:
is there some sort of requirement or at least a strong request that folks posting such 'offers' include that info?...
and what about having the name of who's posting included, rather than just the 'company' name?... i don't know about anyone else, but i personally don't think much of those who'd post such stuff without giving their name... surely, if it's an editor, there's no reason for secrecy... am i offbase here, or what?
love and hugs, maia

Sorry, at this time we do not pay our writers. After browsing this forum, I saw similar requests posted here, and moderators responded that non-paying requests were acceptable.

I'm not trying to be secretive, but I am also not the sole representative of Antithesis Common so I didn't see why my name would be more important than that of the literary magazine for which I volunteer. But my name is Sharon, for those who are wondering. It's also on the site, and you can feel free to Google me and I'm sure you'll come up with something .
Sorry about the confusion and thanks for your input.

thanks for the additional info, sharon!

they are, of course... but it's better/nicer to say so up front than to make folks have to go somewhere else, to find that out...
as for the name, usually requests for material are posted by an editor or some such 'official rep' of the venue, and they'll say so... it gives prospective submitters someone in particular to address their query or submission to... or at least to refer to in their query...
no need for an apology, since i wasn't confused, but just pointing out that more info was needed... thanks again, for filling in the blanks...
hugs, maia

Great, well I'm glad to clear it up. Just for everyone's knowledge, I am one of three editors on staff, so if they do have questions then PMs to me here are fine, as well as emails to antithesiscommon@yahoo.com (which will also be read by me).
Cheers,
--Sharon

We are proud to announce that our debut submissions drive was a great success, and we received well over 80 submissions from 35 different writers from around the globe.
The debut issue of Antithesis Common will be published online on September 15th, 2005. In the meantime, we are now accepting submissions for our upcoming winter issue. The deadline is December 1st, 2005. To send in your work, please visit our website and follow the submissions guidelines, or check out the information posted in our previous posts in this thread.

Just a suggestion, but I believe it would be well worth the investment to buy a domain name and host your own website, rather than use free hosting. It makes it look infinitely more professional.

Hi Ilan,
Actually we're working on getting that done before the first issue goes online in two weeks, and we have a web designer who's putting in lots of (volunteer) overtime to get everything done *fingers crossed*.
Thanks for the comments,
--Sharon
