Seeking Reviews!

Hey all,

As most if you know, my novel is goin to be published by PA. I am wondering if anyone here would like to review my manuscript. Your name, with what you said would go on the cover, and on my website too. I would greatly appreciate anyone who could help. Thanks.

Email me at authorpage1@yahoo.com

Nick,

I hope you don't mind me offering you a bit of advice?

If you want a name plus quote on the cover of your book, make sure it's from someone who is REALLY well-known. Having a quote from let's say me, won't make an impression whatsoever.

Also, reviews for books published by PA don't account for much. Not that I want to say that PA is bad business (I have two books there as well) but you have to know what you're getting in before you ever sign a contract with them.

They don't edit. They accept most of the manuscripts offered to them. They are not recognized as genuine publihsers in the industry. They're considered POD press.

If you don't mind that, it's OK to have your book there. But YOU will have to do all the promotiing. If you sell books, pray that you live in the USA, otherwise it will be hard to get royalties paid out. They still send out cheques while here everything is done electronically. We have pc-banking and it's widely used.
A cheque is only valid for two months, and although I visit the USA every now and then, it isn't always in time to cash in this cheque. If I attempt to cash it at home, I pay more taxes than what is due to me.

Which is why I am now looking for another publisher.

good advice, nickie!

nick, you should take all that very seriously, as it's the sad truth about pods in general and pa in particular...

if you want more input on this, you can email me, as several of my mentees have learned the hard way that pa is not the best way to go...

best of luck with your book...

love and hugs, maia

I was going to say something about PA, but since I've no personal experience with them (just a bit of 'net research', which may or may not be worth anything) I thought I'd just wish the boy luck. Still, I think you should definately explore your contractual obligations...
