I've been very, very busy. I just finished school, so I've been job hunting lately. On Friday, I had an interview in Ann Arbor so I'm very anxious to see how that turns out.

On a less anxious note, the 'zine is done. One of the members of the writing group was quite late in turning in her final story, so it was delayed a few days, but it's finally done. I just uploaded the final document about two hours ago, and the site is viewable here

may i suggest

If you wish to learn HTML as you go along either download or buy, Frontpage express for windows and grab some tutorials, you can make sites using drop and drag tools liek textboxes and picture import, so doign that requires no html knowlage and once you wanna' get a little more in depth and professional you can work with teh html tools to edit and neaten up. geocities is actually very good, they have a page builder whic is free to use and really quite effective if you take your time and study other site layouts first, the only downside is teh limited space you get. But if you get your friends to sign up for geocities accoutns at home aswell you can legitimatly share your allocated space between you. i think you only get like 15mb but between a few friends you can soon have 50-60.

I toyed with the idea of a webzine, and I have the scripting for an automated submission process. I'd maybe be interested in coding a webzine.

email me if you're interested.

Help with e-zine

I realize this post is a bit older but I thought I would post this reply for future reference.

I do have my own e-zine that I designed myself. You can see it via my profile to establish my somewhat intermediate level of experience. ha-ha

First you need your own domain d/t the potential size the site could grow to. The freebies don't offer much space and even less bandwidth and to have the keywords you choose for your site be at least a part of your doamin name helps a great deal in the search engines. I personally use host pc. (Not an advertisement - I just know that you can get lost in the # of web hosts online and easily cheated as well. Been there, done that.)

Second, you either need to know quite a bit about html and at least a basic knowledge of php as well. *Some good resources are www.w3schools.com for html and for php specifically just do a search with key words "php help" or "php tutorials" and you will get all kinds of great advice and tutorials.

-OR-

For someone who does not want to learn all of the coding in detail, they can use something like a portal such as mambo, Xoops, etc. which can be found at installatron.com. I know for myself when I was starting out at host pc, because they offer installatron and in that particular venue installatron installs the script, the database and so forth for the more inexperienced webmaster. My advice in looking for the right web host for you is to consider whether they offer something like installatron or a site builder where you do not have to know coding.

If there is any way I can help or answer any questions about html, php, SEO or web design in general, I am by far not an expert but I will be happy to pass on what I do know.

My apologies if I missed any of my info given that might have already been posted by someone else.

Smiles,
Lana
