Fiction turns to fact ... THE CHRISTMAS STRIKE

Fiction precedes fact in the continuous rush towards oil exploitaton in West Africa.

In August, 2004, Stephan Zimmermann released pre-publication copies of his new political thriller, THE CHRISTMAS STRIKE. The book became available worldwide through most booksellers, including Amazon.com, in early January this year. In the novel, Zimmermann posits the scenario of a major struggle for US control of oil resources offshore Sao Tome, West Africa, with US naval and strike-force elements.

Much of Zimmermann's premise is based on George W. Bush's announcement during his first term that he intended to derive more than 25% of all US crude oil imports from West Africa. According to THE CHRISTMAS STRIKE, political and corporate corruption will lead to an ultimate confrontation in Africa by US military forces deployed to protect these new offshore oil fields.

NOW THE FACTS: Last week, REUTERS released the announcement that Chevron/Texaco and Exxon/Mobil had finally signed a contract in the small, volatile country of Sao Tome, West Africa! just as Murphy Oil, an Arkansas-based oil producer, struck oil in Congo's offshore waters. PRECISELY AS PREDICTED SIX MONTHS EARLIER IN THE NOVEL!!!
Is anyone worried about our thinly stretched troops going into yet another theater of operations? THE CHRISTMAS STRIKE is a must read for anyone interested in factual political fiction.
