Can I use CIA in my novel?

hi there,

I am writing or more or less trying to write a novel, it's about an assassin, and he is a rogue CIA agent, can I use the term CIA, can I talk about the CIA in my novel, without getting in trouble?

Any help would be appreciated!

There are plenty of novels that have government organization's names in them. Check out almost any Tom Clancy novel. So I dont think they'll send James Bond at you.

What do people's rights have to do with what the government does?

Ilan,

i would go on some whole spiel (sp) about how this is a gov't of the people, for the people, and by the people. but i dont believe it myself. so i won't argue with you there. you are right, the gov't has done and always will do whatever they want, as long as it is in their best interests.

If they come to my house, will writingforums.com people help me organize a militia to overthrow our radical government?

That could make a good novel! lol

Thank you! I will use CIA In my novel!

i strongly applaude the use of the CIA within a novel. its stupid for people to be afriad of what the gov't will do. especially in america, with the constitution and bill of rights. and yes, Ilan, i read your post, but the gov't only has such terrible control over its people if they fear it.

to quote a great american, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself

Well,

I don't fear the CIA themselves, what I am more afraid of is people on WF saying that my novel sucks because I use CIA in it

Demonic if you are a CIA agent, then yes. That is scary as hell. lol

i understand what you mean, Ilan. and i also think that Rico makes a good point. if we surrender our fear & control to the gov't, we are only steps away from totalitarianism. or maybe im just being paranoid

Paranoia is healthy. Don't let anyone else tell you differently; they're just trying to hurt you.

This is all rather moot, isn't it? The CIA has been used in many dozens of novels over the years, without incident!
