Err thanks for the plug, Blip.

It'll be interesting in the coming weeks to see how long you last here.

Authors House

People who publish with AuthorsHouse (formerly 1st Books Library) are doing so because the quality of their writing dictates that the only way to get published is to pay for it. That is vanity publishing. This is distinct from the experience of people who know how to write. People who possess this knowledge can get the big, legitimate, New York publishers to write checks. These writers are the real authors. The vanity-press people (AuthorsHouse, iUniverse, Xlibris, PA, etc.) and not real authors. They are just impersonating authors, in the same way that some people impersonate doctors or lawyers. Impersonating an author is not yet a crime, but it will be someday, because those who impersonate authors do more damage to the culture than those who impersonate doctors or lawyers.

AuthorsHouse people are not recognized by any university, by any bookstore, by any legit book reviewer, by any radio show, by any legit agent or major New York editor. Nor are they recognized by the NEA or other granting agencies, state or federal, or by any conference or writers' colony anywhere on the planet.

All of this should be a clue. Not a single one of the legitimate writing organizations in the world recognizes AuthorsHouse writers as "authors." In other words, the entire legitimate writing world is calling such people frauds.

I've had enough publicity. Feel free to close this thread as it's not really about me anymore

Don't give up, Mitchell!

Well, that's funny, Mitchell, everything on this thread sounds like it's about you.

If I were you, I'd keep going for more publicity. As you well know, the big literary agents are scouring online writing forums all the time in search of new talent. It is perfectly possible to be an unpublished Michigan housewife on one day and post routinely on Backspace or WN or any other forum and then, the very next morning, get the attention of the big people with the big money who will put together the big deals for the big books! Books like yours, Mitchell.

So don't give up, man. Promote, promote, promote! Do you realize that Maxwell Perkins could be reading the internet from the grave and decide to publish Chris Graham or Karen Dionne any minute now? It could happen, if you believe in Jesus. Or maybe even in yourself.

If they and so many others didn't think it could happen, why would they be clicking "send" so often? Mmmm...?

You know the answer, Mitchell. You know what it is like to be possessed of a dream that will not die. You know what it means to be a player in Hamlet and to hold up an empty skull in the graveyard and to intone, "Ah, Bob Kellogg, I knew him well..."
