2005 Novel Writing Contest

This is an announcement and invitation to all previously unpublished novelists who may wish to compete in this year's contest. Three winners will be selected this year in one of three categories (Mystery-Suspense, Science-Fiction/Fantasy/Horror, or Women's Fiction). Winners will receive a professional publication contract for their book in hardcover, along with a cash prize. Wining titles will be distributed nationally, internationally, and available online. Please check out the website for complete details, rules, dates and registration requirements. Registration will be limited this year to 500 participants on a first-come first serve basis.

Last year's contest yeilded four winners, three of them already have their books in-pirint, and the fourth will be released this month.

I, too, am interested, but would like submission guidelines and a website to look at.

warning!

while listed on preditors & editors as a 'small press publisher' with no negative info, this 'publisher' offers for-a-fee 'services' [book doctoring, ghost writing, etc.] ... no legit publisher does this...

also, they do not offer info on advance amounts [if any are actually paid] or royalty percentages...

ack!!!!

i agree... NO legitimate publisher asks for ANYTHING before your book is published. neither does any good agent or editor.

dh...

you're right, of course... but that's not what i said about this one...

they may or may not 'ask for anything before' a book is published... i can't tell if they do or don't in all cases... but they DO tout their fee-based 'services'... and that's the red flag here...

most who do this will tell the submitting author that their ms 'just needs a little work' and then talk them into letting their folks do it... for a fee... but i can't say this company does that...

i don't want you to think i'm tarring them with more than one brush, if not deserved...

as for the agents and editors who don't do it, the key word is 'legit' more than 'good'...

never deal with either an agency or publisher that offers any kind of paid services... you can be sure that will be how they make most of their money, and not by selling your work...

love and hugs, maia

I was considering the possibility of considering it, but now I'm eating a sandwich with mayo.
