Elixir Magazine now accepting submissions

Elixir Magazine is now accepting submissions for its innaugural issue. Our goal at Elixir is to publish thought cutting edge flash fiction, poetry and short fiction by both established writers and those who are just starting out. Make us laugh, make us cry, but most of all make us think with work that is clear, concise and full of it’s own unique voice. Profanity and sexual situations are acceptable, as long as they are tastefully done and are not the main focus of your work. We are not prudes, but please remember that we have Terms of Service to bear in mind. Anything that can be easily construed as pornographic wll be rejected immediately.

General Guidelines

Please proof your work thoroughly before submitting it. Multiple spelling and grammar errors distract your reader and may be the diffence between acceptance and rejection.

Elixir Magazine does accept multiple submissions. Authors may submit one piece for consideration in each category per reading period, except for where otherwise noted.

Simultaneous submissions will not be accepted.

If you would like us to consider your work for publication, please give us the opportunity to do so before submitting it else where.

Previously published work will be considered provided the author has retained all rights.

All submissions shoud be pasted in Plain Text in the body of an email to elixir.editor@gmail.com. Please provide the following information: Your name, email address, word count, the title of your work, and the category your piece should beconsidered for.

The deadline for the innaugural issue is December 31st, any entries received after the deadline, will be rejected.

Genre Guidelines

Elixir Magazine defines flash fiction as fiction of no more than 1000 words. Brevity and concise language are encouraged and entries that engage and intrigue readers while telling a complete story in a small space will be received favorably.

Elixir Magazine accepts poetry of no more than 35 lines per piece. Please single space your submissions. In this category, Elixir will accept up to three separate poems per submission. All poems must stand alone and be titled individually.

Elixir Magazine accepts short fiction of no more than 1800 words. Authors are encouraged to keep in mind the components of good flash fiction. Interesting characters, compelling situations, and a complete story are an absolute must.

What Rights We Require:

In addition, Elixir Magazine requires the keep your work in it’s archives and to include your work in any future Elixir Magazine anthology, in either print or electronic format.

For the forseeable future Elixir will not be a paying market. We have plans to make compenation for our authors possible, but need to establish a presence on the Web first. The exposure will be good, seeing as how links to Elixir will be prominately featured at Lit.Org which receives over 6000 unique visitors a day.

I'll be looking forward to reading your submissions.

Bart
