Mused Magazine seeks new writers
Mused is a quarterly thematic arts and writing journal based out of Southern California. We published our second issue in September, and our third, Happiness, will be out in January. Our main goal is to promote the work of lesser-known talent, and we encourage anyone and everyone to submit their work. Here are some general guidelines, if you\'re interested:
We are currently seeking prose (and some poetry) between 500 and 1500 words. Please send as a Word Document attachment to an email with some information about yourself and your work. This issue\'s theme is Happiness, but please feel free to interpret this as you see fit. Mused often has a rather dark sense of humor - you can see some sample articles from our first issue on the website www.musedmagazine.com. Our second issue should be up soon.
Work is due by November 15 - please send to submissions@musedmagazine.com.
Unfortunately we cannot offer payment at this time - we can, however, give you 50 copies of the issue your work appears in, and a promotional bio page with links and more of your work on our website.
If you have any questions about the magazine, or would like to get a hard copy, please email me at susiecagle@musedmagazine.com.
Thanks.

Sounds like it, since you can order a hard copy

I can't remember what it was before, but it's a red X now. I haven't seen anybody else with the same avatar as me so I'm feeling pretty original!

Right now we're primarily available in the United States, but also a few places in England. If you want a hard copy sentto you, we'd have to charge for shipping. But when the website is up, all the content from the print edition will be there also. We distribute 12,000 copies ourselves (4 staff members), so we can't be everywhere - but if you know of a specific store or something that would be interested in carrying the magazine, we'd probably ship some there.

Hmm, is it just me and my computer, or do the articles scroll by themselves?
Assuming this is not a problem with my computer, may I make a website editing suggestion? Please take off this self-scrolling feature! It won't let me scroll farther down . . . it just scrolls at the pace it likes and won't go faster or slower. It's very irritating.
Besides that, you have a nice website. It's very nicely done.
I wish I could submit, but I really don't have the time.
Good luck,
(Adria)

I haven't heard of this problem before, so it might be your computer? And, the website right now is just the first issue - the second should be up very soon.

the self-scroll problem adria noticed must be built into the site, mused one... when i try to scroll with my mouse wheel, it works for a bit then quits and goes back to your set pace... it IS a pain in the you know what, if one wants to scroll back and forth or skip parts...
i'm also confused by your 'giving' 50 copies in return for work, when the giftee has to pay for postage!... how can you 'give' them if you're not getting them to the recipient?... do you have some magical web way to give someone 50 virtual copies?
best of luck with your new venture, regardless... and i'll be there for the free brownies next wednesday! [but, how do i get them?]...
love and hugs, maia

I am not having a self-scroll problem. To me it is quite simple. You move your mouse towards the top or bottom of the article depending on which direction you want it to scroll. Alternatively, you can keep your mouse in the middle so the article does not move on its own and use your mouse wheel.
@onemusedone Muse Magazine seems very interesting. I will not be able to make your November 15 deadline, but if you post here the next time you are accepting submissions I may have something ready. Good luck with getting together the next issue.

You receive copies if we use your submitted work. Otherwise, if you just want the issue, we have to ask that you pay shipping.
