my quest for an agent

Howdy.

So I am in the process of looking for a literary agent. I have one book completed and a few more in various stages that will soon be ready. However, much like god-knows-how-many people out there, I have yet to be published. So, I'm trying to find an agent that not only fits me, but who would like to represent me in some way. I didn't know if anyone out there had any suggestions for literary agencies that accept unsolicited manuscripts because I am truly stumped.

I am used to getting things done through networking with people and this just seems like the kind of field where it is terribly hard to know the right people.

Thanks for any advice/comments/people telling me to self-publish

Spudley is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't actually have any agent to point you towards, but I would like to give you this link to an article about getting an agent. It covers just about all the bases. (I've mentioned it here a couple of times already, but it's good enough to warrant another outing)

Hope you get yourself a good agent nice and quickly

If you would like, there are other venues to go through where you don't pay a dime and don't need an agent. Check out www.publishamerica.com

I went to that website and sent them a bit of info. I'll be talking to them pretty soon I guess. See what they have to say. I have a question that you may be able to answer.

One of my concerns with less traditional publishers is that, should I be lucky enough to get published, I will not be able to get my book on the literal shelves of bookstores.

so what do you think? This place gonna help me with this at all?

Just curious.

Well, I won't lie, you more than likely (about 90%) will not be on shelves unless you know the owner or talk a good game. BUT, if your book sells very well, they have another outlet, Independence Books, that will pick you up and make the book more accessable to book stores.
