Writers Wanted "Gorilla Magazine"

Gorilla Magazine, is a small literary magazine based in New York City. We have limited circulation, but we are growing. We are looking for writers of short fiction and essays to contribute to our magazine. We have a website. It is http://www.gorillamag.com. There you will find submissions guidelines, and interesting little stories to read. We cannot pay you, but if you submit to us and we like what we read you will receive total consciousness. Yes you read correctly, total consciousness, some people have been complaining about monetary recoupment, but we think this is a much better prize. In all seriousness, we are young and are trying to grow and we want to take you with us on the ride to riches and fame. So, jump on the gorilla train and watch it chug into the annals of time.

You are a genius, you are misunderstood, you often wake up with a pen in your hand and the first chapter to your novella on your arm.

Spudley is an unknown quantity at this point
Hi,

Thanks for posting this - your magazine looks really interesting, and your website is fantastic - it simply oozes character.

Almost makes me sorry I don't live in New York.

One thing your submission guidelines didn't mention was your policy on previously published work. Most magazines dislike it, so I'll assume you're the same, but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on publishing a story that has appeared on, say, this site.

Previously published work, as far as we can tell, has no bearing on whether or not we will run a story. We are aware of this rule with other publications, and we understand it to some extent. Suffice to say, if you've had your piece published in The New Yorker, not only will we not print it, but why are you even thinking of submitting to us? Go out and get a book deal or something. Write for Atlantic Monthly. Immerse yourself in literary acadamia. Forget we exist.

If you've had your piece published by an obscure website or zine of some sort, and want to reach a different audience, and think highly of your piece, then by all means, submit to us. We do not need to know where else it was published, we do not need to know how much they liked it. To this end we mean, we only need to know how much WE like it, and that you would like it published in our magazine should we wind up liking it a lot.

Please edit your work. We do not pay for stories, or anything else for that matter, so we are more relaxed about format than publications that do. Regardless, we all have spell check, it is insulting when someone is to lazy to use it. Pieces that have repeated "ans" instead of "and," will be ignored. As will pieces that use the word "pieces" too much - like this one. We do not feel bad about this. We will do this and continue to laugh, and be mirthful. Amazingly mirthful. So so full of mirth.

As for something published on this actual site. Yes, we will be happy, nay, mirthfully happy, to consider it for publication.

Just a quick question. Do you accept any genre? Including scifi or/and horror?
