Rob is an unknown quantity at this point
mammamaia, please be clear about what you mean when you write. I've lost half the night wondering about that one

Cheers,
Omni

If you have an idea, well that's the beginning.

If you don't know how to turn that idea into a short story or novel, I suggest that you go to the library and borrow a book about writing. And then read it. It should cover all the basics of story - plot, characters, setting, dialogue, style, even a little grammer hopefully (you can always get another book for that.)

Once you know these basics, you should find it easier to begin writing. If you already know these basics, what are you waiting for?

The advantages of reading a book as opposed to buying a program are:
1. You can get the book for FREE at your local library.
2. You have the freedom to accept or reject methods presented in the book; with a program, you are locked into following the...program.

Makes a lot of sense. I've not read it, but everyone seems to speak very highly of King's 'On Writing'.
